I am a ceramic artist and i usually shop at more pottery specific stores, but i was in cap hill and needed to pick up a few pottery tools for a class i am teaching and some other bits for personal projects so i thought i would check if they had anything. I don't know if they do this to everyone but i was followed around the whole store by one of their employees, who kept asking if i needed any help every minute . I looked normal, and i was just wearing jeans and a wool sweater so i don't think i looked sketchy.
It was a little disconcerting and made me feel targeted because when i finally asked her where the ceramics tools were she audibly groaned, rolled her eyes and said "you need to be more specific than that i have no idea what you're talking about" while she was blocking where they were with her body. She was absolutely no help so why she was asking me if she could help constantly is beyond me.
Im probably not going to come back to this shop and i will tell my students and friends at my studio to stay far away. I have never been treated in such a rude condescending manner by staff at an art store and i would feel horrible if one of my students had that experience.

Chris and Mo were extremely helpful and patient, helping me find multiple specific oil painting supplies I was looking for and making sure all my questions were answered. Chris went above and beyond in ensuring I get the exact supplies I am looking for and even let me test a few things out on a sample canvas.

A wide selection of art materials, though it didn’t have much for painting miniatures like I’d hoped.

I wanted to love this location as shopping at Blick is such a treat, but this one just wasn’t it. The staff weren’t very friendly, seemed annoyed I had to ask for things to be unlocked (many of the more expensive items are locked in cabinets) or if they had an item in the back (as the shelves are rarely stocked). They have sale stickers everywhere but they don’t ever correspond with the item sitting in front of it, which causes annoyance and headaches when you think it’s one price but ends up being double at check out. Parking garage is not disability accessible as you have to walk around the whole block to get back into it. I don’t think I will be coming back here. Too bad.

I used to shop here, but recently I was completely ignored. Well actually, I walked in the store and asked for help and that attendant who always greets people quickly let me know that she could not leave the front of the store. Guess what? 2 minutes later I saw her in the drawing pad aisle helping a "preferred customer"...yeah, it was awkward. She said "Oh, while I am here I might as well help". Otherwise, I am not worth the time I guess. Sent an email to Blicky and they ignored me worse than the girl. Did I tell you all that I found a new store? Problem solved.
Also, is that Jimi statue outside of Blicky an intentional insult? Why would a statue have no stature and be overly accessible, exposing it to frequent defacing? Genuinely asking. Have a nice day!
