- HGHenry Gutierrez3 days ago5.0Was searching for an interlock device about a few weeks came across other suppliers, but was not what I was seeking and didn’t have the best customer service. After I contacted Smart Start I was greeted on the phone with a friendly customer service representative. Who allowed me to take the time to make a decision based on the information she had given me she sent me up with an appointment A local place for an installation. Upon arriving to my appointment, I filled out my paperwork, and I had the interlock device installed within a few hours Trained on how to use the device and was back on the road in No time. I am overall satisfied with Smart Lock. However, As I recall, I was quoted about roughly $150 for the install and ended up paying around $250 not sure if I misunderstood the quote or it was inaccurate. May be based on location of install. Device is discrete, and very easy to use.

They sent a false report to the DOL so now my son can't get his blow and go out and they are trying to make him add on a 180 more days! When he NEVER got a violation I WAS WITH HIM THAT ENTIRE DAY! THIS WHOLE PLACE AND PROCESS IS A JOKE. my son learned his lesson and has paid his money never missed a payment NEVER HAD AN ACTUAL VIOLATION cause he quit drinking! And you people will not help him your just kicking him further down. Shame on you and this whole company and process. SMH he has done EVERYTHING that was asked if him and never stepped out of line once. YOUR MACHINES HOWEVER DID SCREW UP a couple times. Smh I just hope you people make this right. Cause this is madness!!!

What do I need for removal?
Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.

Can someone else drive my car?
