- CTCasey TiftAug 17, 20231.0Very poor customer service, my car had mechanical failure and would not go into park so I had to put in neutral and disconnect the battery to turn it off until I could get it into the mechanic. So by not being able to put my vehicle in park the interlock never knew to shut off so it violated me multiple times and they told me it was user error in response to my incident report. So I have 3 seperate charges of violation due to mechanical failure of my car.

What do I need to bring to my installation?

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.

Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.

Can someone else drive my car?
