Books are getting too expensive, to the point that you can find the same book , new, for the same price. And knowing they buy that book from you for around $0.50 (If you are lucky) , and then they sell that book for at least $9.90, the profit is huge, I have a shop myself and that is massive. They offered us barely 0.25cents for a new marvel comic and then they sold that same comic for $15. If you look for very old book then maybe you find a good price, same with the movies, but if they are recent, you will find the book for only a couple of dollars more new. It is a shame because I really used to like this store and I used to buy a lot here Still is fun to visit and I do buy Blu-ray quite often.

Wouldn't recommend this location at all! Wasted time bringing 3 full bags of dvds and blue rays in, some premium titles, only to be told they would offer $26 dollars? I'd dump all of this in a recycling bin before I'd ever accept that low for all of these items. And then, while waiting, we were actually shopping and my husband was vlogging. But a whiny, entitled, GenZ boy with green hair, decided to go whine to whom I assume the manager was, and lie and say he was being filmed. She slithers up to us, and says,
"my employee said you filmed them, we don't allow that" essentially in so many words. My husband were appalled, and insulted we were even being confronted about filming, when we have seen COUNTLESS vlogs on YouTube of people in Half Price Books.
It's literally 2025, the age of "content".
Everyone gets filmed unfortunately even without their knowledge or consent. Get over it and get over yourself. Because the funny part is? I purposely didn't film his funny looking self. I wasn’t even focused or worried about shim, because I was filming my HUSBAND looking at discs! So I believe 1 was ACTUALLY racially profiled, and I felt extremely uncomfortable. I was heading to spend even more money on a book, but I changed my mind after that encounter because I felt disrespected and uncomfortable, and no longer wanted to even be in that store let alone spend any more money. Instead, we gladly paid more and headed down to Barnes and Nobles, where we filmed without harassment from their employees. We will never return or give you all anymore business. And my husband shopped here OFTEN. Lowballing us was one thing. Disrespecting and racially profiling us was another. Don't want filming? Put it on your door. We weren't the first or the last to film. And tell your employees to get over themselves and grow another pair. I saw another review where the same employee who is problematic gave issues to someone about a scooter. I hope they got rid of this Weirdo once and for all.

I Love this store. There is a plethora of choices across genres and age ranges. I browse the comic books most often and find they typically have a nice selection. But I have browsed the rest and there is always an excess of interesting reads. They also have toys games and movies. Most of the time what I buy is in perfectly acceptable condition, though I do reccomend you check.

Half Price Books has a fantastic mix of new and used titles, and I can always find Seattle-themed gifts. I also love that they buy books for cash—perfect when clearing shelves. Easy, friendly, and always worth a visit for readers and declutterers alike.
