  Technician attempted to sell me a $350 upgrade. When I refused, he immediately claimed a 'gas leak,' red-tagged my system, and turned off my gas, leaving me without a working fireplace. I called Washington Gas for a second opinion. The Utility Company inspector checked very thoroughly and found NO LEAK. He cleared the system immediately. It looks like this company used a false safety scare to retaliate against a lost upsell. Watch out! ​[UPDATE] The owner says they “do not ever shut down” fireplaces. That is not what happened at my home. Their technician said “gas leak” and physically turned off the gas at the appliance shutoff valve. If a leak is real, shutting the appliance down is the right safety move. That is exactly why the owner’s reply is internally inconsistent. You cannot simultaneously claim “we found a leak” and claim “we do not ever shut units down.” The owner gives good advice about getting a second opinion. I did, from Washington Gas. They inspected promptly, found no leak, and turned the gas back on immediately. Independent verification settled it in minutes. So either there was no leak, or the owner’s public response is wrong as written. Either way, if a “leak” appears right after a refused upsell, verify it independently before you pay for anything.

  I waited to write this review until I actually used the gas fireplace conversion that was installed last summer. Every interaction that I had with Nova Fireplace and Stove was very warm and professional. The new fireplace is great and added a great ambiance to our Thanksgiving get together. Thank you to Daniel and the whole team from sales to installation for a job well done.

  Adrian was a great tech, I had mistakenly updated the original gas logs for a modern aesthetic which was causing excessive soot. Apparently, closed direct vent units like mine need the factory logs to function correctly. Not only did Adrian fix our unit, but now the logs are in the correct position, have a working remote start function. Great service, great tech and the Nova fireplace company service fee was at least a hundred cheaper than other businesses I called. Recommend and will use again.

  What was intended to be a refresh of my fireplace evolved into a project larger than expected. Because I didn’t realize that my fireplace was a pre-fab, which have a life expectancy of 25-30 years (if maintained well), and my house is over 40 years old, it became a complete replacement. I then chose NOVA Fireplace and Stove from 4 fireplace vendors to tackle this project – tearing out the old pre-fab including all the surrounding brick and installing a new direct-vent gas fireplace. Working with Dan (owner) from the estimate through installation, NOVA Fireplace and Stove did an excellent job. A week after installation I spoke with Dan about a small modification to the install and an operational issue - NOVA Fireplace and Stove was out within 2 days and Dan made sure I was happy with their work. That follow-thru says a great deal about their commitment to making things right. I highly recommend NOVA Fireplace and Stove
