  Unfortunately, shocked to find the condition of the store last week. Purchased an item for curbside pickup. Despite waiting for over 30 minutes at the curbside check-in, my item didn't arrive. When I called customer service, I could not get to a real person. When I went inside the store at the pickup section, I was informed that online purchases were at a separate section of the store. When I went to that section, they informed me that the jewelry was a separate section of the store again. When I went yet again to a different section, my item was not ready for pickup. I ultimately found the product that I needed on the isle, but it was not labelled correctly so I had to picture match it against the website to ensure I was picking up the right product. When I finally paid and left, the alarms went off at the exit... The escalator was broken. The whole store felt like a rudderless, ownerless, lifeless, dystopian version of itself

  One of the employees was an older woman, short in stature, with a red dot in the center of her forehead. She spoke English with an Indian accent and had an unfriendly attitude toward customers. She acted as if the store belonged to her. She always looked like she had just lost money. While the other employees were cheerful and pleasant, she treated me as if I had stolen something from her. I was simply trying to check out using the $10 reward for signing up. She insisted it was just points in my account and demanded my phone number and email. I explained to her that it was a sign-up coupon or reward I received from the JCPenney website, not regular points. Despite this, that woman stubbornly refused to let me use it. She claimed it was points that weren’t showing up in my account. However, when she scanned my coupon, it clearly deducted $10 from the total — but she still refused to accept it. She said it had already been used and declined to process my checkout. Worse, she raised her voice in front of other customers and staff, making it sound like I was trying to scam. She even instructed others that whenever someone tries to use a $10 reward, they must check the customer’s phone number and account, and if there’s no $10 visible, then they shouldn’t let them check out. Her behavior was extremely inappropriate, especially compared to the kindness of other employees.
