Want to talk about making a bad situation worse... I had an interlock put on my car June 20th as soon as they got done with my car (4 hours later), I got in my car and the check engine light was on and a transmission alert was popping up on my dash, Joe tried to tell me it was a due to a low battery... Well me being a female I went home thinking what he said was true, I told my fiance what Joe told me, he tested my battery then and there and there was absolutely nothing wrong with my battery. Joe then had me bring my car back to Draeger June 24th after about an hour or so they had me take my car to a Berglund service center. Here we are, July 28th.. Absolutely no update on my vehicle other than the GM engineer doesn't have any clue what is wrong with it other than telling me "Draeger has spliced into multiple electrical wires". I have been extremely nice and had a great amount of patience through this entire process. I have a full time job working 40-50 hours a week, this has been a major inconvenience as I do not have any family that lives around me that is able to take me to work as they also have full time jobs..

Frequently Asked Questions About RoadGuard Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

When you start your vehicle, you have to blow into a mouthpiece that’s connected to the ignition interlock device, sometimes called an in-car breathalyzer. The interlock device will then measure your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) and automatically determine whether your BrAC is low enough to allow the car to start. Any test you take, whether pass or fail, will be reported to your monitoring authority.

How much does an ignition interlock device cost?

Ignition interlock device costs vary because each state has different pricing regulations and device technology requirements. But in general, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 to install the interlock device depending on vehicle type. After the initial interlock installation, you are required to pay a monthly rental or lease fee. On average, the cost to rent or lease an interlock device is between $50 and $150 per month.
