We recently scheduled our yearly Santa Photos at cabelas. This year we chose an evening time a first for us. 7pm and we were running late, we arrived 15 minutes late to our appointment time and the team were super accommodating and were not even fazed by it. The employees were fantastic, I mean FANTASTIC! They went and got Santa for us and the walk up he made was incredible, our children aged 13,9,5 lit up from ear to ear and all were immediately excited. He greeted them, genuinely asked them what they would like for Christmas. You could feel the spirit of Christmas coming from this man. His happiness was contagious and the atmosphere was warm with him in it. He made sure our older kids were comfortable and smiley before he sat down. This was our first Christmas photo for our newborn, 2 months old and she was asleep. We were ready to have our oldest hold her and as we were getting ready to put her in our daughter’s arms Santa offered to hold her. He didn’t have to but you could tell this man lived to make moments like these special. Normally our youngest reacts to new people holding her but with him she stayed asleep and immediately got snuggled in to his sleeve cuff. We were shocked and we couldn’t have been happier till we saw his face. All I can say is he is absolutely the greatest Santa we have ever had the pleasure of including with our family. His face lit up and was brighter then any Christmas tree could have done. I can’t thank him enough for this moment and I want to thank cabelas for bringing him back. Santa thank you and thank you for the extra gifts. They brought tears to our eyes and a memory we will cherish for the rest of our lives.

Visited this afternoon at 3:45 pm interested in purchasing a Browning Citori CXS 12g, 30" ($2,249.99). We checked into the que at the counter and waited happily while the customers in front of us completed their purchases (about 30 to 40 minutes per person). When our name was at the very top of the list, we waited for over an hour for anyone to even try to assist us(because of a shift change and everyone wanted to go home). We do want to mention that Doug was very helpful and apologetic at the amount of time that we were patiently waiting and wanted to help us but he was already over his shift. Once we were finally able to speak to the employees behind the counter, and they were able to bring out the shotgun we desired, as well as the Browning Citori Hunter 12g, 28" ($1,949.99). They were new in box, security tape uncut. To our absolute horror we watched as 3 separate employees slammed and crammed the barrels into the receivers and made several gut wrenching attempts to put all of their weight into slamming it into place. They then took them into the back, where who know what they did to them, only to come back out in defeat after 15 minutes. We then made it clear that we waned them to STOP trying to put them together and we'd take one that was new in box and they hadn't had their hands on yet. Especially at this price range, we didn't want one that was abused. Again they vanished, only to return telling us it was the only ones they had. We absolutely will NOT be taking home anything marred and covered in scratches, and who knows what damage occurred while they manhandled them behind closed doors. You would think that a store that is devoted to hunting and guns and gun accessories would have people who know how to assemble shotguns. We will never be returning to this store, and for the love of all things holy and good do NOT buy the two Browning Citori that they have in stock currently. I don't even want to get into how we ordered 500 rounds of ammo over 2 weeks ago and they only had 250 in stock and listed the ordered as 'ready for pickup'. Stay away. Total time in store: approx 3 hours.

This place gets 3 starts because the staff is very friendly but the firearms sections is VERY SLOW. Not efficient in processing and checking out. They will have 4 guys at the counter but only 1 maybe 2 helping while the other just chit chat. Making you wait an hour plus just to fill out any sort of paperwork when there’s multiple employees behind the counter.

Cabela’s is an outdoor paradise. As someone from Europe, I’ve never seen a store on this scale camping, fishing, shooting, hiking and boating gear all under one roof, plus quality clothing and footwear. Knowledgeable staff, fair prices, and tons of stock. One-stop shop for any adventure. Amazing place.
