Evan that runs the 22408 shop is AMAZING. He will try and squeeze you in even though he is busy. He is the only reason I stay with smart start.
Corporate- they are quick to help you get setup with services to start billing but if you need help with anything else they brush you off. They refused to help with scheduling removal, then called Evan to say there was a complaint. I want to be clear- complaints are because of corporate office not helping. The shop itself gets you in and out quickly and he even snuck me in for a quick 10 minute removal so I was not charged an entire new month.
Make sure you get the correct shop number and try to only deal with Evan and you will be very happy dealing with Smart Start.

I originally started with Intoxalock and it was a horror movie. When they were no longer authorized in Virginia I switched to SmartStart and I have never been happier with my decision. Intoxalock would drain my battery nearly everyday, I got a new battery, tried new devices, everything I possibly could and they basically told me I just needed to deal with it. “There was nothing they could do” , and so I was starting my car within every 12 hours not to get a lockout. The moment I’ve switched, I feel like I’m actually able to live again. Evan in Fredericksburg is absolutely amazing. So kind and understanding. Very knowledgeable and overall AMAZING customer service. He answered all of my questions and really helped me more than any other person in the past has. Dealing with a different company in the past; this is night and day.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
Can I unplug my Ignition Interlock?
Check with your state authority to see if you are allowed to unplug your Ignition Interlock before doing so.
Can someone else drive my car?
Yes, but whoever is driving the vehicle MUST take a breath test and pass before driving. Any failed test will still be your responsibility.
