Andrew was a top notch professional throughout my year in the program. I was in and out in 15 minutes or less every time. I got the interlock device installed at a different location, and it was faulty. Andrew came to my house after hours and put in a new one, which had no problems. I highly recommend the Fredericksburg/Culpepper locations. Thanks Andrew!

I would like to inform you of my recent experience I had with Andrew Harper at the Fredericksburg location. I will start from the beginning so you can understand the extent of my frustration. I called to schedule my installation on Tuesday November 10. The representative initially had me scheduled for an evening appointment to accommodate my prior obligations but then informed me he would need to schedule an AM appointment on Wednesday at 930 due to my vehicle being a remote start. I asked if I could do 10am instead and was told no because the technicians follow a schedule all day and would not accommodate 10am. So I agreed to schedule the installation for 930am on Wed Nov 11. The morning of Nov 11 we arrived 5 minutes early to make sure we were on time for our appointment. Upon arrival we noticed the building appeared to be empty and the lights off. We then proceeded to wait for someone to answer the door or arrive. At 942 I then decided to call the number on the door to make sure our appointment was scheduled properly. The contact number was Andrew Harpers cell phone, he answered and informed me he was running late and would be there shortly. He then arrived at 948, this is very frustrating for me due to the scheduling department informing us we couldn’t arrive at 10am because the technicians follow a schedule all day. I feel if the expectation is for us to be on time the same should be for the technician to be on time as well and respect that we might have prior obligations after our installation. Unfortunately our experience only went down hill from there. During our interaction with Andrew he wasn’t pleasant to speak with and felt when he would ask us a question he would then cut us off during our conversation of answering him. I also felt he was very belittling, condescending and patronizing in his demeanor and verbiage toward myself and my husband. There were multiple times he informed my husband he needed to remain seated to go over paper work while Andrew was standing next to him, that made us both feel very uncomfortable. After we finished the install everything seemed to be working fine with our equipment until 11/15/2020 at 1pm when I attempted to go start my car and the equipment appeared to have lost all power while my vehicle still had power. After myself and my husband tried to get it to work multiple times we then decided to call Andrew. While on the phone with him he had us unplug the device and retry it but it was still no operable. I then informed him that this was our only vehicle and I needed my vehicle for transportation to a meeting for work. He told me that he couldn’t come out and help me with my vehicle until after 8pm that day because he had prior obligations to his family. I also asked if there were any other technicians in the area that could assist and his answer was no. So I was frustrated but understanding and did appreciate that he would come out to my home that same day to service my vehicle. I waited up until 10pm and Andrew never showed up or contacted me. At that point I was extremely frustrated because when you only have one way of transportation and it isn’t working because a malfunction in the device it is very concerning knowing that you might have to go through this for six months or longer. The next morning was Monday Nov 16 and I was scheduled for work that day, so I attempt to start my vehicle hoping it works. Thankfully it started my vehicle and I was able to make it to work. While on my way in to work I decided to reach out to Andrew Harper three more times between 8am and 11am because I didn’t want to be stranded at work with an inoperable vehicle due to the device but was unable to get in touch with him. Later in the day I attempted to leave for my lunch break and the vehicle would not start again due to device not having power. That is when I contacted you directly and was assisted by Aaron, who was very friendly, kind and was willing to drive to me yesterday if I was unable to get my vehicle started.

Frequently Asked Questions About RoadGuard Ignition Interlock

How does an interlock device work?

When you start your vehicle, you have to blow into a mouthpiece that’s connected to the ignition interlock device, sometimes called an in-car breathalyzer. The interlock device will then measure your breath alcohol concentration (BrAC) and automatically determine whether your BrAC is low enough to allow the car to start. Any test you take, whether pass or fail, will be reported to your monitoring authority.

How much does an ignition interlock device cost?

Ignition interlock device costs vary because each state has different pricing regulations and device technology requirements. But in general, you can expect to pay between $50 and $150 to install the interlock device depending on vehicle type. After the initial interlock installation, you are required to pay a monthly rental or lease fee. On average, the cost to rent or lease an interlock device is between $50 and $150 per month.
