  I recently purchased a new sewing machine from this shop, and I can’t say enough about the experience. Pam spent a tremendous amount of time with me, patiently walking through the differences between machines and helping me find the one that was truly the best fit for my needs. I never felt rushed, and her knowledge made the decision process so much easier. Brandy also jumped in at just the right moments with helpful suggestions, which I really appreciated. It was clear they were working together to make sure I felt confident in my purchase. While I was there, they were hosting a weekend sew-a-thon, and it was wonderful to see how they interacted with both new and longtime customers. You can tell they genuinely care about the people who walk through their doors. On top of that, the store has a great selection of quilting supplies and beautiful fabric. I left not only with a machine I feel great about, but also with a really positive experience. I highly recommend this shop and truly appreciate the time and care they gave me.

  I stopped by 35 minutes before closing one day after work. I had been wanting to stop by the shop, but could never get there within their hours or they were closed early on the days that I went. When I entered the shop, i said “Hello”. I was not greeted, but was rudely told “we close soon.” I said I’m just looking for one piece of fabric to finish a project and so I won’t be long. The staff member proceeded to grill me about what I wanted and insisted on pulling bolt after bolt and presenting them so she could get me out of there faster. If I hadn’t wanted that particular piece of fabric (that I found ) for a special project for my daughter, I would not have purchased it. I wound up spending about $100, but I will not be back. I paid and was out the door about ten minutes before they closed. I am new to the area and was hoping to find a local Quilt store that I could support, but this will not be it. For clarity, this happened December 2025.

  This shop has amazing lots, fabric and sewing notions. Everyone is so friendly and they take time to show the special touches of sewing. You can tell they love people and sewing. I had a great experience shopping here. Don't miss shopping at "A Different Touch".

  I stopped by here while visiting my family in Chesapeake. What sewist can resist a store that sells Bernina sewing machines and fabric? The owner was in store at the time of my visit and was very gracious and helpful! Thank you, A Different Touch!
