  I've been coming here since I was a little girl...now in my 30's, I just had one of the best customer experiences I've ever had! Due to poor planning, my partner and I were racing against the clock to find an outfit for a wedding (the day of! As in - 2hrs from the time the bride was to walk down the aisle). With the help of Janet, Ron, and one more of their colleagues, they jumped in to action and began measurements & providing clothes that fit our needs. Without any hesitation, this team of three delivered friendly & fast customer service, and surely saved the day! Thank you!

  Bad customer service experience: I had to get a phone charger before my closing shift and stopped at JC Penny. At the checkout the employee pitched their credit card, and I said "No thank you" at least five separate times even expanding "I have to get to work in 10 minutes, I'm in a hurry," and I was still ignored each time. Every time the worker said "No, it will only take a few minutes." I didn't realize it was a credit card and just assumed the only way out was through because the worker was saying "no" to me saying no, so I said "sure" and had a long sign up process as I slowly realized it was for a credit card lol. It required your SSN, and I told the worker "I don't know my social security number, only the last four digits, so we can't do this." For some reason the worker continued pressuring me and insisted I could "just remember it." I made something up and told the worker "Okay, I'm making something up" and they insisted that was the right move?? I was extremely frazzled by the way I'd been treated and could hardly remember my made up SSN to put in twice. Plot twist because I know everyone's on the edge of their seats here; it didn't work. Massive shocker I know. The worker said "it's not working for some reason. That's really weird." They added a discount and complimented me presumably because they felt bad and even that annoyed me because as I had communicated, I was in a hurry. I paid and left right away because I only had 2-3 minutes to make it to work and clock in on time. She asked if I wanted the receipt and I said "No, I'm okay. Thanks. Bye." And they asked again and I said no again. I started rushing out of the store to get to work and I was loudly called after with multiple employees running after me to give me my receipt. I said I didn't need it again and was finally left alone. I'm a customer service worker, I understand that it is our job to pitch our projects and ensure customers get everything that they need; this was not the case here. I'm not sure if there was a language barrier here but I'm pretty sure everyone understands "no" at least when it's said five times (at least eight times throughout the entire transaction.) I see another review here that details a similar experience on hammering the credit card, so this might be a frequent kind of experience. I'm still bewildered by this story, I am easy going and can't name another time I was mad at customer service I received. Hey JC Penny-- I'd have a meeting with your employees on changing strategies. I have an idea; try listening to literally anything your customers are saying. Also, nobody wants your credit card. Also, please respond because I want to laugh and that will be a better apology than anything you could offer. All this for a charger btw :D
