Plato’s has always been a stop for us when we come to Appleton to shop. This was our first visit at the new location. I was able to find a couple cute things. Although this Plato’s has a lot to choose from (which is nice) I feel that many of their items are overpriced for the condition they are in. I could find either the same or similar items in better condition on websites like Depop for much less. Staff was fine- not overly welcoming or helpful, but not rude. I also think it kinda stinks that they don’t have a restroom for their customers to use. It’s a new, bigger location- it sucks to have to drive to the mall, then back to shop. Next time maybe I’ll just go straight to the mall.

The staff was disrespectful to me, I felt discriminated as someone who does not smoke weed and being told all my clothing smelt and had to be washed. I watched the store employees not even go through my basket and tell me to take it home and could not tell me what items didn’t work and did. I would not recommend coming here.

the staff there are super rude. as someone that has shopped here for awhile i’ve always noticed the staff being rude and judgmental towards customers. I love shopping here and they did a super nice job with the new location. staff just needs to be talked to about attitude, as someone that has worked in customer service for awhile no way in heck would my managers be okay with me acting rude towards paying customers. There is nothing wrong with the store they had always had super nice things and every time i’ve sold my items i have gotten a good amount of money back. the only reason why ive now decided to write a review is that it’s honestly ridiculous how rude and judgmental these workers are and have heard them make comments about customers! I really hope management takes the time to talk to them about customers service.

They wouldn’t take American eagle jeans/shorts, aerie, forever 21 or buckle. They told the women ahead of me they won’t take her size because it doesn’t sell well (she was a larger size). Don’t support this place or waste your time. The clothes they have are extremely faded and washed out. Wish we had a better option, I was warned not to come here.

This is a great place to find budget-friendly clothes. I've used this store after losing 30 pounds and needing a whole new wardrobe. I've also tried selling back half of my old closet that no longer fit.
I've had experiences similar to many of the other reviews—finding stained clothes on the racks or bringing in three bags of clothes only to have them buy one item. None of that really bothers me. I do find it weird, but to me, that's just the name of the game. It isn't worth my energy to give it too many second thoughts. If an item looks questionable, don't buy it. If they don't want my clothes, Goodwill is right around the corner.
What finally brought me here to write a review was the staff. After reading through the other reviews, I realized my experience wasn't unique. Dealing with the staff leaves me feeling physically drained. They give off the impression that your business is an inconvenience to them.
It's exhausting having to deflect the rude attitude, and it's honestly confusing. I haven't even asked for anything—I'm either shopping or checking out. These are bare-minimum interactions. If I'm taking the time to write this kind of review, understand that this isn't a one-time occurrence. It's been consistently the same on every visit.
The only comfort is seeing them treat other customers the same way. At least that makes it clear it isn't just you—it's them. They come across like the mean girls from high school. Looking at this objectively as a grown woman whose career is based in the service industry, I'm genuinely concerned about the kind of work environment management is allowing to develop.
Especially since I've never had this experience at any other Plato's Closet location, it seems to be unique to the Appleton store.
If the work environment is so toxic that customers can feel it—and that pattern is reflected throughout many of the other reviews—then someone from corporate needs to walk in and simply ask those girls, "Are you okay?"
