I came in to purchase a firearm after having my firearm rights legally restored through the court. On the ATF Form 4473, I asked the employee for clarification because of my prior felony conviction and restoration of rights. I understand employees can’t answer the form for you, but nobody explained or pointed me to the ATF instructions that specifically address restored rights.
Because I answered “yes” to the felony question, the transaction was automatically stopped and I was told I couldn’t reapply there for 30 days.
What was frustrating is that afterward, a simple Google search led me directly to the official ATF government website, where the instructions explain that someone who qualifies under the restoration-of-rights exception is directed to answer “no” to that question. I found that information myself before calling another local gun store, and when I called them, they immediately knew exactly what I was talking about and confirmed the same information.
A quick explanation of the ATF guidance, or even simply directing me to the official instructions before I submitted the form, could have prevented this entire situation. Instead, I left confused and unable to make a purchase there for 30 days.
I’m now taking my business elsewhere, even though the firearm I want costs about $50 more, because I’d rather spend my money somewhere with staff who are knowledgeable about the process and can point customers toward accurate information. Very disappointing experience.

Great staff always willing to help, inventory tracking is a issue will show multiple items as in stock but when you get there it's not there and when someone checks it will show they haven't received any of the items for months.

After going here a few times I’m very unimpressed with the competency of the employees in their respective areas. The employees receive no training in their areas. If you’re looking for something they can show it to you but if you ask in-depth questions they cannot answer them. I now drive to the closest REI store where the employees are well known for their expertise. New REI employees receive training in their areas (camping, footwear, etc) before they are allowed onto the sales floor. They also receive continuing training in their areas of the store. Before investing money in an item I recommend going to REI because the employees are able to discuss in depth the advantages and disadvantages of a product.

The DMV has faster turnaround times than the folks behind the gun/amo counter. Don't even waste your time shopping here if you need anything in this department.
I came to look at the binoculars because my boyfriend recommended this place and stood behind the counter for 20 minutes without even an ounce of acknowledgement... One of the THREE gentlemen that were behind the counter even walked past me multiple times and at one point even stopped slightly in front of me and proceeded to look right past me at someone else. Still without a "hello" or a "we'll be with your shortly". Instead, just a deadpan look almost like I was invisible to him. 😐 It was awkward and he did a great job at making me feel unwelcomed.
Everyone in customer service knows to at least say hi, especially to someone who's been waiting for 20 minutes in the same area. It's unfortunate that my $200 was instead spent at the BIG 5 SPORTING GOODS in the same shopping center! They said hi right away, who knew it was so hard to acknowledge someone's existence? (Try them out if you need to purchase binoculars) 😁
After reading some of your other one-star reviews about the amo department, I'm surprised things still haven't gotten any better as far as wait times/poor customer service. Might want to make some adjustments? 😬😬
