  ⭐☆☆☆☆ As a new gun owner, I visited Bass Pro Shops in Tacoma to purchase ammunition for my .380 Auto pistol. I mistakenly believed that because my firearm was a .380 automatic, I needed .38 caliber ammunition. Unfortunately, the employee assisting me sold me the wrong ammunition without clarifying the difference or confirming the correct caliber for my firearm. When I later realized the mistake and tried to resolve the issue, I was informed that Bass Pro Shops does not allow returns or exchanges on ammunition. While I understand that ammunition sales may be subject to strict policies, I was disappointed that there was no flexibility given that the error could have been prevented with better customer assistance. As a new firearm owner, I rely on knowledgeable staff to help ensure I'm purchasing the correct products. This experience was frustrating and costly, and I hope the store provides additional training for employees on caliber and ammunition compatibility, as well as customer education, so that new gun owners can receive accurate guidance and avoid similar mistakes in the future.

  First time to a Bass Pro Shop. Their customer service was actually superb. Every employee we interacted with, including the firearm section, were professional, polite and patient. Their aesthetic clearly had effort and time put into it. They have their own distinct brand character and now I understand why people like this company.

  Don’t buy or transfer firearms through these clowns. I purchased a lower frame here. We ran the background check, everything looked good, I paid, and they told me to come back on the 18th to pick it up. • Showed up on the 18th → “Sorry, background is still pending. Should be clear tomorrow.” • Came back on the 19th → Still pending. • On the 20th, someone called and said it’s actually been ready since the 18th and I could pick it up anytime. I drove over again (attempt #3), and two older guys were working. One asked how he could help. I said I was there to pick up my frame. He replied it was too late — it takes 35 minutes to “clear” the frame before you can take it. So I’ll have to make another trip back tomorrow. This place is great for camping gear, ammo, and fishing supplies. Horrible when it comes to firearms transfers and customer service. Inconsistent information, multiple wasted trips, and zero accountability. Won’t be back for any gun-related business.
