  Went with my brother who just turned 21 to show him some firearms. Was working with a gentleman at the counter who was great. Got ready to buy one that my brother decided on and I asked if I could use my law enforcement discount. They advised that they couldn’t allow that as it would have to be my brother that paid, not me. We said that was fine, just wanted to try, and my brother was ready to pay. Then, some other random gun counter employee thought he was important in that money and came over to try and “educate me”. He tried to tell me that I needed to watch how I talk, and essentially was making it seem as if I was trying to make a straw purchase. Buddy I work to protect the community, not aid in crimes, stay in your lane… Outside of that one employee everyone was great and they would’ve had my business. Maybe another day!

  Went in with my brother to browse firearms. The original guy at the gun counter was very helpful and friendly, but there was another guy who was extremely rude and disrespectful. My brother, who is law enforcement, asked if he would be able to use his law enforcement discount for my firearm purchase. The friendly worker explained that it wouldn’t work as it was me actually buying the firearm (going into my name, me doing all the paperwork, etc). We understood and I said I’d just pay without the discount, but then the rude worker came over and started telling us to “watch what we say” or they won’t sell us a firearm. He talked and insinuated that we were doing something illegal (a straw firearm purchase), which is an incredibly dangerous and disrespectful accusation, in which he had no reason to claim. Even if there was somehow a huge miscommunication, his tone and accusatory verbiage was out of pocket. Walked out of the store after that. The manager we talked to was very friendly and understanding, but no way we come back here.

  I’ve shopped at Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s for many years and spent thousands of dollars with them, both online and in stores. After repeated poor customer service experiences, I’ve decided to stop shopping at the Tacoma Bass Pro Shops and will likely take my business elsewhere altogether. At the Tacoma store, asking for help consistently feels like an inconvenience to employees. Checkout interactions have also been cold and dismissive, both in tone and body language. Recently, my wife asked whether she qualified for a military discount. Instead of explaining the requirements, the cashier abruptly asked, “Where’s your military ID?” That exchange reflects the way we’ve been treated there on multiple visits. The one exception to the lack of attention is the credit card pitch. Employees are quick to approach you about signing up as soon as you walk through the door, sometimes so persistently that it feels awkward and intrusive. I wish that same attention went toward helping customers once they’re shopping. I had a similar experience at the Cabela’s in Lacey while purchasing a firearm. I didn’t know I needed to sign in on a touchscreen before approaching the firearms counter. When I went to ask for help, the employee made me feel foolish for not knowing the process. Customers should be treated with basic courtesy whether they’re spending $10 or thousands. These repeated interactions have cost Bass Pro Shops and Cabela’s my business. I’ll be shopping with a competitor.

  A wonderland and a fine presentation of everything i love. Well I tried your Tacoma store again I'm a half crippled 70 year old man shopping for ammo a pistol a walkng cane and whatever else I might stagger across. . 3 out of 4 employees I came across acted more like they were there to prevent theft than to try an help me buy anything. I will not set foot again in that store as i am not a criminal and do not appreciate being made to feel like one. Cash customer with needs and wants that used to be a purchaser of y'alls goods and services.

  Worst place to go to buy anything, if I would able to give them 100 minus 0 stars in this site I would.but be careful especially with the gun counter. There’s a grumpy dude named Steve that does not want to do his job especially if you call him to ask any questions don’t do it because he’ll just be rude and hang up on you. I would never ever go back to the store again worst experience I’ve ever had. I would rather go to sportsman’s warehouse in Puyallup. They are nicer if you call them, they don’t get mad and hang up on you. They answer your questions by far a better store to buy anything. I mean, I think any other store is better at this point Stay away from this place bunch of rude people.
