  This has nothing to do with the service. I went in to return jeans that I believed fit because most do fit when I purchase a 30x32. However, these didn’t so I went back to exchange them but I removed the tags on 3 of the 4, thinking nothing of it since I’ve never had a problem with that before just as long as I have a receipt. Well, I was wrong. Apparently you cannot remove tags at all and if you do you cannot return them/exchange them. I feel like that should be disclosed if that’s a policy that you have. I hardly return clothes anyways, I just bite the bullet and move on but even when I have, never had an issue. This was a bit disappointing.

  Terrible customer service. I don't know what position Samantha holds, but she is completely rude and doesn't know how to resolve issues. I am a frequent customer, yet—due to an error on their part—they ended up treating me as if I had stolen an item. It is unacceptable.

  Misinformation about return policy When I made my purchase on January 4th, 2026 the cashier told me to “hang onto the tags incase you need to return anything”. When I attempted to return 2 pairs of jeans on 1/19/2026 they rejected my return, stating that “tags must still be attached to be eligible for a return”. When I informed the store manager of the information I was given about returns at the time of my purchase she said she’d “speak to the team about being more clear” and then offered to give me a 1-800 number for customer service. I did call customer service; they reiterated the return policy and told me there isn’t anything they will do. I understand the return policy, but I feel an exception should be made when the cashier provides incorrect information. Anecdotally, in my experience it’s bad business to lose a customer over $90 worth of jeans. I’ll never make a purchase from AEO again.
