  Recommended everybody check the price before make a payment. I’m very disappointed with my first time experience at Plato’s Closet in Spokane Valley I visited with my mom and younger sister and found purple Lululemon leggings on a 50% off rack. The $35 tag had a heart-shaped mark. To make sure they were correctly placed, I asked Employee A at the cashier counter, who confirmed that items with a star stamp or heart-shaped mark were 50% off. Based on her confirmation, I decided to purchase them. At checkout, the total was much higher than expected, so I asked Employee B whether the leggings had received the discount. She said they did not qualify. I explained that I had already confirmed with another employee, but she continued to insist they were not eligible without checking with that employee or trying to clarify the situation. I was also very disappointed by Employee B’s unprofessional behavior. She had a visibly unhappy expression, avoided eye contact, and repeatedly looked away while we were speaking, which felt dismissive and disrespectful. Given how little attention she appeared to be paying during checkout, I was also left wondering whether all of our items were priced correctly. My mom chose to pay for everything to avoid making the situation bigger, but we left feeling unfairly treated. We are regular customers, so this experience was especially disappointing. Unfortunately, after this experience, I no longer feel comfortable supporting this store. After experiencing this level of customer service, I can understand why the store currently has only a 3.7-star rating on Google.

  Staff will profile you and treat you only as a resource they can take advantage of nothing more. Extremely disrespectful, probably won’t go ever again.

  I used to love this place once upon a time. All the clothes the employees are accepting are pretty meh nowadays. Used to be a great spot to find unique, edgy finds, now it's a place to find the most boring clothes on the rack- and tons of them have holes/significant wear. Just for reference- I brought in a bag of clothes with some neat finds (I was certain she would at the very least accept the worn 2x, bright, vintage, leather Frye brand boots I had in there)- all the girl behind the counter accepted was a boring faded purple tank top with a huge hole in it. I get some things are accepted seasonally but the selection reflects the quality of sorting going on. I was surprised and almost said something but I took the money and left. The last shirt I bought from platos had a hole in it (I can sew, so no big deal, but for quality's sake and store reputation's sake- come on. I shouldn't have to thoroughly inspect each item for holes, the employee who is being paid to maintain a standard of a certain level of quality should be doing that. It at least should've been cheaper) The girl who is typically behind the counter sorting clothes needs to take a break. I think it would be an AWESOME idea to rotate people sorting through the clothes more often. Stop accepting such cheap/basic brands and basic looks. I dont mind your average basic b aesthetic but I need loud creative and culturally diverse b aesthetic in the mix. Stop accepting so many walmart brands. Stop accepting so much Shein or temu. Bring thrifting back pleaaasee. This place still has crazy potential 💜 I'm not doing this to bash this store. I'm saying this because I love thrifting and I want things to improve. Not looking for a response from the owner, I will still continue shopping here- just some constructive criticism.
