Lovely used bookstore. It's a chain so if they don't have it, it may be in their database to ship it to you. If dropping off books your price is accommodating their need to upsell to their discounted price for others to also keep the doors open. They also take and have movies and games and accessories. Some new books too. Easier to navigate than a general second hand store. Closer to a library . Some books are hard too find because the placement of category can vary by staff member so be creative if you can't find it and their database says in stock at that location. Otherwise just order it and pick up.

I'll start by describing how it feels when I walk in: Cold, uninviting. No Hi, Hello or welcome in.
I am often described as intimidating, so that may be the reason they don't acknowledge me like they do everyone else that enters the building. It's not just this store, it's most of the HPB locations in WA.
The atmosphere is riddled with judging looks from staff and patrons alike - where people would rather avoid an entire section cause you're near it than browse with the likes of someone like you. Not to mention, the subject matter discussed by the staff in the buy section seems.. questionable, at times.
Next, I'll talk about pricing: Bordering on absurd.. Not just the purchasing prices (which we all know are horrendous) but the sales pricing. Physical media like DVDs, VHS, CDs, vinyls.. are WAY over priced! I saw a Metallica Master of Puppets CD - that STILL HAD THE ORIGINAL $5 PRICE STICKER FROM WALMART - that they were selling for $7.99. I can literally just go to Walmart and buy a new, unopened copy for $5. And the infamous games section, where they purchase certain games for pennies on the dollar, then turn around and sell them for $100. Nice.
Purchasing prices: If you take your items to HPB thinking you're gonna score and get some good money back, you're sorely mistaken. I took 3 current textbooks and several other books to be traded in and they offered me less than $40 trade in value. The phlebotomy textbooks alone are worth $60-100 new, I expected to at least get $10-15 for each.
All-in-all.. Just another greedy corporate sham of a business. Buying low and selling... high.
2 stars, cause they have a clearance section.

Love browsing this book store! You never know what you might find! I’ve found some of my favorite books here. My son loves it too, he’ll find a book and read while I browse the aisles looking for my next read! ☺️ Sometimes it’s cheaper to buy online elsewhere but other times you get good finds. I’m just a sucker for a book store tbh.
