Plato's Closet buys and sells gently used clothing, shoes, sneakers, accessories and athletic wear for teens and young adults in Newport News. Sell styles you no longer wear for cash on the spot, or shop thrifted, secondhand, and resale fashion, including trendy, brand-name styles for less. With 500+ independently owned and operated locations across the U.S. and Canada, fresh inventory arriving daily, Plato's Closet makes thrifting easy, affordable, and more sustainable.
I’ve had nothing but good experiences at this Platos, because it always seems lively and the staff seems to enjoy their job even during busy times and checkout is breezy. selling can be a drag but that’s just Platos for you, if you don’t like it, there are plenty other options to get rid of your stuff instead of yelling at teens!

Had a really good experience at Plato’s Closet! The staff was friendly, welcoming, and actually helpful. I especially appreciated how patient and kind Nasiyah was—she made the whole experience feel comfortable and easy. You can tell she genuinely cares about helping customers and making sure they have a good experience. Definitely would come back!

I had an amazing experience shopping here. I felt very welcomed and found what I was looking for. Also, while I needed help looking for a specific area, a worker name Destiny helped me find exactly where I needed to go and even gave me suggestions on what to get. Overall, great experience and I will be coming back!

Awful experience!!!!!! I brought in a full box of clothes, and they only took 3 items for $10. They barely accept anything!!!
The customer service was also really bad. There were people waiting in line to check out, and several employees could clearly see that customers were waiting, but no one came over to help. They were just chatting and laughing right in front of the customers who were waiting in line. They completely ignored us and just walked by. So frustrating!
I would never, ever sell my clothes here again. Definitely not recommended! 👎

This Plato’s is absolutely horrible I bring a few shirts and 7 pairs of shoes 2 which were basically brand new maybe worn 2-3 times then 3 that were very lightly worn and a few pairs of Yeezys like ok yall don’t take Yeezys as if mines are fake or whatever the reason cool but the other 5 pairs of shoes were absolutely fine atleast 8-9/10 condition not to mention it’s back to school shopping season and they didn’t take anything but two shirts one being a plain Nike shirt and one being a sleeping von Dutch shirt what a joke 😂 then yall have the nerve to have beat up shoes on the shelf for 80+ dollars not to mention for the longest yall had sign on the door saying yall encourage people to bring more shoes and then you don’t take any shoes every single Plato’s I’ve had an experience with is absolutely terrible and this place needs to go out of business paying people $20 for shoes then pricing them at 100+ is absolutely highway robbery on top of that yall claimed to want trendy gently used items but everything in there look like it came out of the thrift store because their staff doesn’t know fashion in any shape form or fashion they will take a beat up pair of chucks or vans before they take a clean pair of Jordan’s I will never support this place again after doing so for many years and at this point yall have lost a customer
