I was here early May and had a great experience. I bought some work out clothes and had a great convo with the staff who were very friendly. I came again mid-May and the staff were very loudly having an inappropriate convo. I couldn’t tune it out if I wanted to- they were yelling across the store to each other. Distasteful comments were made regarding people who are paralyzed (my husband is a quadriplegic so I took it to heart), and pregnancies/newborns. I will not return to this location in the future in worries of the same staff working. The most unprofessional store experience I’ve had. Only reason this isn’t a 1 star is bc of how enjoyable my first visit was.

when i arrived both employees were on their phones, very wierdly insisted my clean folded clothes were dirty, literally asked a random man to smell my clothes & he stated they smelled like laundry detergent. I asked what was dirty about my clothes & the employee stated idk. When I came to pick up, the employees were also on their phones. Immediately drove to another location & recieved over $100 for my items. Waited a couple hours in the area only for them to refuse looking at my clothes, will not be back very rude.

Let me just say that this Plato‘s closet is the best one I’ve ever been to in Virginia! Hands-down! The prices are affordable, and when you trade in, it’s always a far price on your items! The new owners are a breath of fresh air and have the store looking amazing! They are always helpful & nice! Also I’d like to shout out to Jacara, She’s Always been wonderful to us every time I’ve came in! Over all if you’re looking for nice affordable clothes/shoe/purses etc, don’t wait go to Chester’s Plato’s closet NOW!

I visited this Plato’s Closet location today and arrived around 5:15 p.m. There was a sign on the door stating they were not accepting buys until 6:00 p.m., which I understood and waited for. Once buys resumed, I was told there was already one buy ahead of me. It is now around 7:15 p.m. and I am still waiting for my buy to be fully processed. I brought in a clear plastic storage bin of freshly laundered, name-brand clothing, including some men’s items. In total, only about 12 items were selected, and I was told the rest could not be accepted at this time. A pair of brand-new Target-brand sandals in current style were rejected as being “too mature,” even though similar styles are currently sold in-store. I also want to note that I was offered $34 total for the items they did accept, which included a pair of brand-new Vans slide-on shoes (men’s size 11) and a pair of Blundstone boots (women’s size 6.5) that retail for over $200. I understand how resale buying works—I actually managed a Once Upon A Child for several years—so I’m very familiar with sorting standards and processing times. However, this experience felt unusually slow and inconsistent compared to what I would expect, especially given that the store was not busy during my visit. The wait time felt excessive for the volume of items brought in, and the overall process did not feel efficient or consistent. While I understand there may be changes under new ownership and policies, this was honestly the most frustrating experience I’ve had at a Plato’s Closet. I’m not sure I will be returning after this visit. I would give zero stars if I could.
