Buying a hand gun at Bass Pro Shop was a whole new world for me. I have purchased many guns in my 80 years of life but the experience I had with Bass Pro Shop was totally amazing! It was made so very simple to accomplish. The only hitch is in the background check. I have carried a concealed carry permit for many years now. For the past six weapons I have purchased the wait time has been days not minutes. Come government red tape, jump on the bandwagon here as you are still working in the 1800's era!

In the middle of a purchase for 27k boat through this location, which is 2.5 hrs from my home. Now follow along. Spoke with Jim Ambrose on a specific boat I wanted to purchase on Thursday Oct 8, 2026. Jim advised the boat was located at a sister store but if I paid a $500 deposit that night he could have the boat at his Location on Monday Oct 12, 2026. $500 transport deposit paid Oct 08, 2026. Jim's email that night explicitly states "deposit will secure the boat since this is time sensitive." We jumped through every hoop imaginable. Procured approved financing and insurance. Messaged Jim at 10am, and again 1:30 pm Saturday Oct 10, 2026 stating we would be at his store 9am Monday Oct 12, 2026 to finalize and take the boat home. By 3:45 still had no response so I call the store. This is when Jim decides to tell me the boat will not be at the location and will still be at the Baltimore store. I gave Jim the option find out WT... was going on and call me back by 4:30pm as he had specifically stated by paying the $500 deposit for transport the boat would be there. 4:30 rolls around no call. So I call the Baltimore store and speak to Chase. Explain the situation and tell him Id like my entire deal switched to his location and I would be there at 9am Monday the 12th to Finalize. Chase says sure thing and calls the Henrico store. Guess what they wont answer the phone. Now, the Baltimore store is 5hrs from my home. So I message Jim Ambrose again and get nothing but the runaround and placated responses. Im looking at a 10hr round trip because Jim Ambrose flat out lied to us on the boat's availability. At no point whatsoever did he say anything other than the boat would be at his Location on Monday Oct 12, 2026. No, "probably, likely, etc..." he asked Mondays specifics assuming work related and I confirmed yes the only day we had off that week. So he knew from the rip he was blowing smoke up my ... and was only concerned about making a sale. What should have been an exciting and happy business deal has now turned into a miserable road trip and unneeded stress. Have a call in to BPS corporate customer relations and will update as necessary.

Needed my bow tuned so I called ahead on a Sunday to make sure they had someone working there. They told me yes, all good. I drove an hour and a half and the guys there told me they aren’t trying to setup bows today and just sell stuff. While he’s setting up someone’s bow. Told me to come back tomorrow, like everyone can just drop what they’re doing (work) and come back. Had the audacity to act like I’m inconveniencing him when I just wanted to pay for a service they offer and I called ahead. Expected much better from bass pro . Especially when it’s blue collar people who spend their money there, I figured they would have better customer service. I’ll take my bow somewhere else. Oh and get rid of the Cabela’s/bass pro credit card I have. Points are worthless to me if you can’t even get service .

First visit, easy parking, Huge place; tons of items, friendly staffs. It was like you got into a part of park; a part of hardware store; a part of snake shop. Lots to see and to learn. Very friendly staffs there and always someone asks you if you need help. We will try the restaurant next time. We had a lot of fun!

Bass Pro Shops has never been accused of not being outdoorsy, and that's exactly why I love it. Every few months I set aside a couple of hours to wander the aisles and dream about my next adventure. If I have one regret, it's that Bass Pro has reduced some of its name-brand selections to make room for its own product lines. I miss some of the variety, but it's not enough to keep me away. I'll still shop here. I'll still visit. Recommended. ⭐⭐⭐⭐⭐
