- TDTricia DunnSep 7, 20261.0I was visiting family from out of town and happened to come across this store. The shop does have a decent selection of used furnture and decor with reasonable prices. The clothing selection was dated and prices were high. I selected a few decor items, some of which were discounted, as they do have a discount system with colored dots. The reason I’m giving only one star is the upcharge. Many small businesses upcharge 3% for credit card transactions. This store not only upcharges 4% for credit cards, but ALSO 4% for DEBIT CARDS! I’ve never seen an upcharge for debit, which is a cash transaction. When I inquired about the debit upcharge, the owner tersely stated, “I upcharge on everything that goes through my little machine.” I don’t feel this is a customer friendly way of doing business, especially when most people do not carry wads of cash in their wallet anymore. In addition the decor items I purchased were all breakable and the owner did not wrap them in any packing paper, she quite literally put the porcelain vase that I just paid the 4% upcharge fee on, in a plastic bag. I travel to Tyler frequently from Dallas to visit my mother. The antique and consignment stores in Tyler are exceptional, but I’ll be skipping Designer Consignment from now on.
