I had a very unpleasant experience with customer service during my checkout on December 12, 2026, at 6:55 PM at the JC Penney location on Alamo Ranch. The interaction was with the general manager of the store Jancie Rafael.
I went shopping for a dress and, after a tiring search, I finally found two dresses in the sale section all the way at the back of the store. I tried them on and liked them. To my disappointment, when I went to pay, one of the dresses rang up at full price. Both dresses had two labels (green and pink), but the one that rang up at full price was supposed to be on sale for $31.15. The cashier informed me that it did not ring up at the sale price, so I requested to speak to a manager.
The manager approached me and said, "That price was not set by one of her store associates; people move prices around." I suggested that she verify the camera footage to confirm where I found the dress, but she replied, "I don't care where you found it; I'm not going to give it to you for that price," and then she smiled, as if she owned the store, and walked away from me.
I was speechless and felt very insulted because she accused me of putting that price on the dress. I asked her for her supervisor, and she responded, "I don't have a manager; I'm the store manager." I asked for her name, and while she wrote it down on a piece of paper, I asked for her last name. She said, "I don't give that out," and walked away from me.
If this person is indeed the store manager, action needs to be taken immediately. I will never return to that location again.
