Bass Pro Shops at The Rim in San Antonio is much more than a sporting-goods store—it’s a fantastic place for the entire family to explore and enjoy! From the moment you walk inside, the impressive wildlife displays, huge aquarium, outdoor-themed décor, and wide selection of merchandise create a fun and memorable experience.
The kids will love walking around and seeing all the animals and fish, while adults can browse an incredible selection of fishing, hunting, camping, boating, grilling, clothing, and outdoor equipment. Even if you aren’t shopping for anything specific, there is so much to see that it feels like a family attraction all by itself.
The store is spacious, clean, well organized, and filled with everything an outdoor enthusiast could possibly need. The employees are friendly, knowledgeable, and willing to help you find the right products or answer questions. The location at The Rim also makes it easy to enjoy shopping, dining, and other activities nearby.
Bass Pro Shops at The Rim is a wonderful place to spend time with the family, introduce children to the outdoors, and find inspiration for your next adventure. Great shopping, great atmosphere, and great family fun right here in San Antonio. We always enjoy visiting and will definitely be back!

I was in the market for a new 9mm, and after shopping Academy for years I tried Bass Pro Shop for this purchase… AND… WOW!!! What an amazing experience! I will not be going back to Academy for any other firearm purchases.
Here’s why…
First off, walking into a BPS evokes a childlike experience in me. I’m 44 years old and every time I walk into a BPS I instantly feel like a kid again. Especially on “New Firearm Day”.
Second, when I walked into the firearms section in BPS the associates behind the counter were outnumbered by customers. However, it only took a few minutes before an associate helped me sign in at the kiosk. I was assisted within 5 minutes after my sign in.
Third, Shawn! That guy is freaking awesome! The whole team was really top notch, but Shawn was the specific associate who helped me that day. Shawn is just a good dude. He was legitimately funny, he had a great attitude, he was extremely knowledgeable, he was very patient with all of my questions & A/B’ing firearms, and he was beyond helpful. A note to BPS management… SHAWN IS GOLD!!! I settled on the Canik Mete M9… which is the INCREDIBLE firearm that I purchased based on Shawn’s recommendation. Thank you Shawn!
Fourth, the selection, quality, and condition of the firearms at BPS were all superior to Academy. And the way in which the firearms are displayed at BPS was just pleasing to look at. However, the prices of the specific 9mm was the exact same at both BPS & Academy.
Fifth, the background check, purchase process, and out the door experience at BPS was just so much smoother and more pleasant than Academy. There were places to sit while waiting at BPS, the background check process seemed quicker, and I didn’t need to wait forever for a manager to come walk me out of the store after my purchase at BPS like they do Academy. The process always takes far too long at Academy.
Lastly, I will not be buying any other firearms from Academy. BPS has got more than what I need and a fantastic experience to go with it… and they do for you too! Enjoy your childlike trip to BPS, and if you’re in the market for a new firearm then go upstairs to see Shawn!
I want to share a very disappointing experience we had at Bass Pro Shops today. At the entrance, an employee offered us a free hat if we applied for a credit card. My husband politely declined, and the employee responded sarcastically, saying, “Well, you can’t because you need a Social Security number,” clearly implying that we couldn’t have one. We are U.S. citizens, and it was extremely offensive that he made that assumption simply because we are Latino.
As we walked away, he sarcastically added, “Don’t worry, I’ll close the door,” which made the situation even more uncomfortable and disrespectful.
We came in expecting a normal shopping experience and left feeling discriminated against and unwelcome. Employees should treat every customer with respect and should never make assumptions about someone’s citizenship or immigration status based on their appearance.

I ordered a firearm online from Bass Pro Shops. When I arrived at the store to pick it up, it was not as advertised. I suggested a simple solution to correct the issue, but when store management became involved, their response was essentially “take it or leave it.” There was no willingness to discuss or fix their error.
I submitted feedback afterward and am still waiting for a reply. The customer service was extremely poor. I will not shop at Bass Pro Shops again.

My daughter has been asking to go visit Bass Pro Shops for a while. I’ve been needing to purchase a rifle. So we went after church on Sunday and it’s always a pleasure. It’s clean, an entire adventure and they are always fully stocked and staffed. There is a lot to see. I purchased a Ruger, and the whole process for buying the weapon took 45 min max. Their staff is very knowledgeable because I had a million questions. I’m an Army Veteran who hasn’t fired a rifle in quite a few years. I wanted something similar to tie M16A2 I was used to. They recommended a Ruger. It’s nearly identical to what I am used to. 5.56mm. Perfect. My background check took maybe 20 minutes. I got ammo and had questions about that and was helped tremendously. My daughter got a Douglas stuffed animal and accessories she’s been wanting for a while.
