Your Ignition Interlock installation appointment will usually only take up to an hour or two, depending on the make and model of your vehicle. We also understand the significance of working with your car – rest assured that our service technicians will take utmost care while installing the Interlock device.

After having your Ignition Interlock Device installed, you’ll need to have your device serviced regularly at a Smart Start service center. These visits can take anywhere from 30 minutes to an hour. Our trained service technicians will help you to answer any questions you may have concerning your device.

Removing your Ignition Interlock Device is simple! Before you submit a removal request, please check with your state authority that you are authorized to remove your device. It’s important that you only have your device removed at a Smart Start service center.

    They damaged my car. Talked to Chris Avin, the manager at the location and escalated to Jonathan Guerrier, DFW Manager and haven’t heard back.

    I had nothing but a great experience at this Smart Start.Location! They were very professional and courteous, considering that I damaged my portable unit when I threw it a police officer that had me pulled over for speeding, in which I wasn't speeding! I hit the officer in the head with the Smart Start unit and it shattered on the side of the freeway. Thanks to the guys at Smart Start for getting me calmed down and back on the road.

    Took vehicle to Smart Start Haltom City off Lower Birdville Rd for installation. After training and 2+ hours I left for work, I came back at lunch time and the installer & office gentleman were both out front in my vehicle cause there was obviously a problem. They explained there were multiple dash warning lights on and they couldn't figure out why. After standing there for 20 minutes, I went back to work. I called them back at the end of the day for an update & they had no explanation. Someone from SMartStart called and instructed me to take the car to the Irving location, which I did the next morning at opening. Irving had the car a few hours and called stating they could not figure it out and instructing me to come take the car to the Acura dealership. My car has been there 13 days. Acura has identified the problem "During installation, the blue communication wire between the EPS unit and multipurpose camera got spliced to the Ground black wire" and SmartStart will not accept responsibility or authorize the repair. So I am stuck without a car and a $900+ bill for the damage they caused. I will be happy to remove complaint(s) once the issue is resolved. The employees have all been friendly, but I need my car back & repaired.

    I had an outstanding experience with Smart Start in Irving,TX. I want to give a big shoutout to the technician (Jonathan) who installed the device in my vehicle. After hearing about my previous car being totaled, he made everything so easy by getting me a quick appointment date, thoroughly explaining everything, and just having a fantastic attitude throughout. I highly recommend them and ask for Jonathan to be your technician he is amazing. He gave me the full five star experience!
