Seems to specialize in N scale products. Not a lot of HO scale and the stuff available was mostly consignment and insanely overpriced. The shop had a used Athearn RTR SD40 available for $325 which was half that amount brand new. They also make sure you don’t ask about their prices by adding “no disc” to the price tags. This was my first and last time at this place.

Was down in Houston for work with a free morning awaiting a flight home. So I did a little hobby shopping. Made it to Papa Ben's. It is a Model Trains Only hobby shop. Mainly N scale but a little of everything else. I was greeted kindly as I entered. The gentleman behind the counter asked if he could help then what brought me in. I was given the history of the shop. On Saturdays they open up the N-scale club that is inside, which is very nicely modeled. And after a short few minutes of talking with some other great patrons I started looking over the shelves. I found some great consignments that just had to follow me home. They also have some old school tire weights that predates the modern steel ones (That threw of TSA as a giant black brick, hehe). Got recommendations for the live steam group and even a museum if I find I have future free time. Good location, great people, clean shop with a little of everything and not so modern you could just order direct. Doesn't get much better than that.

Some of the best selection of most modern scales, N, HO, O, etc! Super kind staff, and even some goodies for the kids. Their dioramas are beautiful, and there's enough rolling stock, engines, and scenery to go around!

They have good customer service and variety of trains. If you scare of dog don't go but the dog is harmful.
