I attempted to return a pair of pants to JCPenney with the original receipt after purchasing them via tap to pay. The cashier refused the return because I did not have the physical card present and would not offer any alternative solution besides store credit. What frustrated me most was not the system limitation itself, but how the situation was handled. The cashier was dismissive from the start, did not acknowledge the inconvenience, and argued with me when I asked to escalate the issue, insisting that a manager “wouldn’t be able to do anything either.” When I clarified that I was not trying to be rude, she argued that I actually was being rude. I responded that the comment was unnecessary. When I asked for her name, she refused to provide it despite other employees visibly wearing name tags. When the manager arrived, the interaction did not improve. The cashier continued focusing on arguing that I was rude rather than resolving the issue, and the manager made little effort to de escalate the situation or offer any meaningful solution besides store credit, which I declined because I rarely shop at JCPenney. When I said I would likely need to dispute the charge with my credit card company, the manager essentially agreed that was my only option. I ultimately left the item at the store. I have worked in customer service myself, and I understand employees deal with frustrated customers every day. But acknowledging frustration, remaining professional, and attempting to find solutions are basic parts of customer service, especially when the customer is not yelling, cursing, or being disrespectful. Both employees could benefit from additional training on handling customer complaints professionally.

Richard at the JCPenney Photo Studio did an amazing job with my graduation photos. From the moment I walked in, it was clear that he genuinely loves what he does. He brought so much enthusiasm and professionalism to the session, which immediately made me feel comfortable in front of the camera. Since it was just me for the session, I was a little unsure how the photos would turn out, but Richard guided me through everything. He gave great direction on poses, adjusted the lighting and angles perfectly, and made sure every shot looked its best. His attention to detail and eye for photography really showed. What stood out the most was his passion for his work. He truly cared about getting great photos and making the experience enjoyable. The whole session felt relaxed, fun, and very professional. If you are taking graduation photos or booking a session at the JCPenney Photo Studio, I highly recommend asking for Richard. He is an excellent photographer and made the experience a great one.

Kim has been doing my perms and coloring my hair for many years now, and I’m always so grateful for her amazing work. Every time, my hair turns out beautiful and exactly how I hoped. Her experience and attention to detail really show. Thank you so much, Kim!

Overinflated junk. It’s ridiculous that we are nearing mid-January and their idea of Christmas clearance is $20-$30 for a Christmas chocolate bar and $20 for a 10” tree. A bag of Jelly Belly was $40. What a joke — and a slap in the face to the 2-3 customers that are actually in the store. I walked out empty handed as did others.
