  Get what you pay for. Poorly organized, and felt like a flea market or Goodwill shop, except for the armed security at the door.

  I purchased a pair of shoes online for an upcoming trip. When they arrived, they were both labeled as the same size, but they were visibly different sizes. It was obvious they did not match. I called customer service, which appears to be outsourced, to find out how to resolve the issue. After speaking with them, it became clear there was no way I would receive a replacement in time for my trip. I then went to my local Belk store to return the shoes. I stood in the shoe department for about five minutes without a single employee acknowledging me. I finally found an associate in the clearance room, explained the situation, and she began processing the return. I noticed I was only being refunded for the shoes, not the shipping charge. Another employee walking by commented, “They shipped them to you,” and said I would need to call customer service to request a shipping refund. Normally I would understand that policy, but this situation was entirely Belk’s fault. The shoe box even contained the previous customer’s return paperwork, which made it clear these shoes had already been returned and should never have been sent back out to another customer. After several frustrating exchanges, I asked to speak with a manager because I couldn’t believe the level of customer service I was receiving. I was directed to Jennifer Madden, who introduced herself as a team lead and did not appear to be an actual manager. Unfortunately, she was no more helpful or professional than the other employees. I was told they couldn’t mark the shoes as damaged because they were labeled with the same size, even though they were clearly different sizes. That apparently prevented them from refunding the shipping charges. This entire experience was disappointing from start to finish. I received an obvious previous return, spent time trying to resolve Belk’s mistake, and was met with poor customer service both over the phone and in the store. Belk’s policies and lack of customer care have convinced me that I will shop elsewhere in the future.

  I had the best first time experience! I had no idea this store existed & am enthralled. Great deals. Enormous selection. Excellent service. I will become a regular for sure.
