- JKJeff KirkMay 13, 20262.0As a big fan of the brand itself, my first trips into a physical Todd Snyder shop – meaning this one – were notably subpar. I bought a pair of pants, which fit well when I tried them on, and was specifically told to wash & air dry them at home before wearing them around. I did exactly that, but quickly discovered that they were somehow too loose after wearing them for 20 minutes, possibly due to having too much elastane. Since I'd just bought a pair of jeans at Uniqlo a couple days earlier, I knew they offered complimentary alterations, and assumed the same for Todd Snyder, an obviously higher-end store. I took them in for alterations, and somehow the fact that merely taking in the waist a bit would cost $70 extra – despite following their instructions to the letter, including washing prior to wearing – wasn't "mentioned" until I was leaving. They also said they'd be ready to go in under a week; it's now been two weeks, and I've heard nary a peep. NorthPark is iconic in part because its retailers offer such exemplary service, most famously Neiman's & Nordstrom. I'm not sure how they've gone a full three years with such shoddy, haphazard service, but in the future I'll just stick with Buck Mason & Billy Reid (both of which are about the same price but much better-made) and far less pricey places like Uniqlo that somehow still offer superior customer service.
