  NorthPark is my favorite mall, and Steve Madden is one of my favorite stores, which is why this experience was so upsetting. I came into the NorthPark location with a pair of Steve Madden shoes that I had never worn and wanted to exchange because they were uncomfortable. The manager acknowledged that the shoes looked completely unworn, but refused to accept the exchange because there were scuffs at the very tip. He explained that if the shoes had come with those scuffs, he could not return them because he did not want to take the hit on his store’s numbers. To me, this made it very clear that the issue was not that the return could not be processed, but that he simply did not want his store to take the hit. I went to the Galleria location, where the staff was incredibly kind and helpful and handled the situation without any issue. They were genuinely surprised by what had happened at NorthPark. Unfortunately, I had another frustrating experience with the same manager when I returned to exchange a pair of Tabis because I needed a half size smaller. I was told there were absolutely no 7.5s in stock. I asked another associate while he was in the back, and she checked and told me there were actually three pairs in the store. At that point, I felt completely uncomfortable and unwelcome. I left feeling like I was being judged rather than helped, and after two separate interactions where I was given information that did not appear to be accurate, I no longer felt comfortable shopping at that location. I have always loved Steve Madden, and it genuinely hurts to say that an interaction with one manager has made me not want to shop at the NorthPark location anymore. I am simply asking to be treated respectfully and fairly as a customer. I hope Steve Madden takes this experience seriously and looks into how this manager is treating customers.

  STORE NEEDS A GOOD MOPPING! *A word of caution: check the bottom of your shoes before purchasing.* On August 22 I visited the Steve Madden store specifically looking for a new pair of loafers. A gentleman helped me try on several sizes and two different styles. The pair I ultimately purchased felt a little snug, but I decided to purchase them because I needed a new pair and hoped that the leather might loosen with wear. Later that same day, I found a pair of black loafers at Aldo that fit much better. Since the Steve Madden shoes were completely unworn, I brought them back to the store, two days later, in the original box and bag with the intention of returning them. I was told the shoes could not be returned because there was dust on the bottoms, which indicated they had been worn. I explained that the shoes had never been worn outside of the store and asked if anything could be done, but I was told there was nothing they could do. I felt incredibly dismissed. The following day, I was able to return the same shoes at another Steve Madden location after simply wiping the bottoms with a damp microfiber cloth. I understand that a company has the right to refuse a return based on the condition of an item. However, a store should be held to the same standard it expects from its customers. Customers should not have to thoroughly inspect the bottoms of brand-new shoes before purchasing them out of concern that dirt or dust from the store floor will later make an unworn pair appear used and prevent a return! If a store expects merchandise to be returned in pristine, unworn condition, then the store should likewise keep its merchandise, and the floors customers walk on, clean enough to maintain that condition.

  I love Steve Madden shoes and this location staff is so nice and helpful especially Jennifer she was so helpful in helping me find cool shoes😻
