  I was sent here by Sea of Beads to find a wider selection of jewelry findings than they have and had a terrible experience. After buzzing me in, I walked into a tiny, dirty room with no one behind the desk. As I waited, I looked at the tools they had collecting dust on the wall. A sales associate apparently walked in while I was browsing, but I didn’t notice because she didn’t hi or even let me know she was there. I could tell that perhaps I’ve been sent to the wrong place, but I decided to ask for what I was looking for anyway: bezel cups and settings for a few stones I’d bought. Her response: what kind? (said flatly with attitude and definitive haughty tone). I am not a professional jewelry maker, I’m a hobbyist, so I did my best but realized very quickly I was sent to the wrong place. That would have been fine, except the sales associate was so unfriendly, unhelpful and made me feel so dumb that I found myself apologizing on my way out. Also, their website is not accurate. It says they have gold and silver jewelry findings but they do not. They have silver. Only. They are not a good place for students or the community as they claim. They’re only good for metal workers and jewelry experts. Basically, their website and AI overview represent them to have things they don’t have, serve customers they don’t, and it makes you believe they are friendly, which they are not. It really stinks when you’re passionate about something and trying to learn about it, but your teacher ends up being some jerk who thinks they’re better than everyone because they work in a small dirty building that doesn’t it all live up to what they say they are

  Tim and I have owned a jewelry store on the North Coast of Oregon for 52 years. About 40 years ago, we started a nationwide search for an honest refiner for our scrap gold. We started by refining metal ourselves, but that was too time consuming. So, we settled on using referee assays. This let us compare the refinery's results to our sample's assay. We chose Allen to do the referee assays because he had a reputation for accuracy. After testing many refineries, not one of them proved to be honest. And some of them were among the biggest names in the trade, at that time. We called Allen, who knew what we were doing, and asked him, what are we to do? He said, "I refine gold." Since then, we have sold 118 lots of scrap gold to Allen's AMC, and have consistently received honest returns. And yes, we check on them too. Integrity is hard to find these days, but in the words of my Lord and Savior Jesus Christ, “Seek and you shall find."

  I can walk in and tell them what class i am in and they know what the professor likes for his/her students. Prices are not bad. I love digging thru the sale area and being able to bring in a piece and set stones beside it to fine tune a color balance.
