Plato's Closet buys and sells gently used clothing, shoes, sneakers, accessories and athletic wear for teens and young adults in Cookeville. Sell styles you no longer wear for cash on the spot, or shop thrifted, secondhand, and resale fashion, including trendy, brand-name styles for less. With 500+ independently owned and operated locations across the U.S. and Canada, fresh inventory arriving daily, Plato's Closet makes thrifting easy, affordable, and more sustainable.
Stopped by here on July 2nd, 2026. This is a fairly typical thrift store with a reasonable variety of clothing, although many items seemed overpriced for a secondhand shop. The thing that stuck out most to me is the music volume really undermined the experience of shopping here. It was so loud that it became difficult to concentrate or simply think while browsing. Plato’s: a more moderate volume would make the store far more welcoming. Fellow bargain hunters: if you’re easily overstimulated, this is not the store for you.

Took a lot of new name brand clothes with tags never worn and they tried to under sale me. The clothes are worth so much more money. Also the ladies working was not customer friendly and not helpful at all. so I will not be coming back to this place

Today, I dropped off a huge bag of name brand, great shape, in season clothes. Yes, some were out of season which I know they don’t typically want but there were many spring and summer dresses, name brand. Lots of Matilda Jane women’s dresses in the bag. I had not gotten from there to Red Lobster before I got a text that they were ready for me to come back.🤨 when I went back, the guy literally handed my full bag back and said, yeah, sorry we’re overstocked. It looks like all winter and fall stuff. Maybe try another time. They had not even gone through it!!! Everything was just as it was, same clothes on top as when I left it! I mean really???? If you’re too busy to take the time to actually look through my stuff then instead of wasting my time and everyone else’s time, put a sign on the door, Sorry, not taking anymore offers at this time…or something. It was a total waste of my time and so rude!! I will never go back there to take my things or look at what they have to offer.

Dissapointed. Mean employee snapped/yelled at other employee in front of customers. Very unprofessional. Didn't take one item of my multiple totes of stuff. Most name brand and barely used. Won't be back.
