  This review is regarding the experience I had this evening, September 29, 2025, at the Vans store located at 100 Columbiana Circle, #1420, Columbia, SC (Columbiana Mall). The posted mall hours state that the mall closes at 7:00 p.m. I arrived at the Vans store at approximately 6:50 p.m. to exchange a pair of sneakers for my daughter. However, the store doors were already locked. Two employees were inside—one identified himself as “MJ.” Both were sitting down, occupied with their phones, and appeared uninterested in assisting me. When I signaled from the locked door for assistance, MJ, who was wearing AirPods, eventually walked over. Rather than addressing me professionally, he laughed and told me the store was closed, despite it not yet being 7:00 p.m. When I pointed out the time, he continued to laugh and walked away. I then called the store to request the manager’s name, and MJ again laughed, claiming he didn’t know it. This behavior was extremely unprofessional, disrespectful, and disappointing. I understand the importance of closing on time, but locking the doors early and then treating customers in this manner is unacceptable. I will never shop Vans again and will return to the store for a refund ONLY!!!

  Store is well kept and some of the staff is nice. I recently bought a pair is shoes for someone and the size didn’t fit. We exchanged for another size without any problem. One day later, we decided not to keep the shoes and went back to the store. The shoes were not used and still had the tag on it. The sales person told us that they wouldn’t be able to return it because we had changed the size before… I never heard of a place doing this. So, I contacted the Vans website and spoke to an TERRIBLE AGENT that pretty much said that we should be able to get a refund but the store would have to agree. If the store is part of VANS, how come they have different policies!? I once again asked them to see where that policy was written and they couldn’t show me. Really a bad experience…

  Huge selection of Vans shoes (obviously); that is a good thing for Vans lovers (including me). The staff is well-trained and very friendly, particularly the staff in charge of getting people shoes of different styles/sizes/etc. to try on. They absolutely go out of their way to help you find exactly what you’re looking for; and if you don’t know what you’re looking for exactly, they’re helpful in steering you in the right direction. No sales pressure here. This place exudes skate culture, but with a bit more politeness haha. My go-to Vans store when I’m in the market for Vans (which is more often than I should be… got a bit of a collection). Definitely recommend this store, due to the shoe selection, but also largely due to the kindness of the staff. Attached a photo of a pair of shoes that I recently purchased at this store. So far so good!
