This was my first time shopping at Citi Trends, and unfortunately it will be my last.
The employees were extremely rude and created a very hostile atmosphere. I felt like I was being watched around the store as if I were a thief, which made me very uncomfortable. They also made inappropriate remarks about my child, which was completely unacceptable.
One employee seemed visibly frustrated the entire time and repeatedly made comments about how customers annoyed her. If working in retail is this frustrating for her, she may want to consider a different line of work. Retail employees should make customers feel welcomed and respected, not like an inconvenience for simply shopping, especially when shopping with their children.
What made the experience even worse was the unprofessional behavior of the staff. They were having personal conversations and making indirect comments about customers loud enough for people to hear. It was obvious they wanted certain customers to hear what was being said.
I left feeling disrespected, judged, and unwelcome. I wish I had gotten the employees names so I could report them directly. It wasn’t just one employee involved, multiple staff members contributed to the negative experience. However, if I’m not mistaken, I believe the main employee involved may have been the manager. She was the one expressing how frustrated she was, making it known that customers seemed to annoy her, and she contributed heavily to making the experience unpleasant. If this helps identify her, she wore glasses and had dreadlocks and was a light-brown skinned woman if I’m not mistaken.
Based on this experience, I will not be returning to this location.
