I go to them under uncomfortable circumstances after a horrible mistake during a bad time in my life and get treated like a respectable human being. They are kind, courteous, always helpful when you have a question or problem and put up with an awful lot of rude behavior out of some of the other individuals that are mandated to have an ignition interlock device. It’s not their fault that you made a mistake, and they didn’t write the PA laws. Treat them with the kindness that they deserve, because I certainly didn’t expect this embarrassing experience to result in being treated with the dignity that they are so willing to give out!

Requirements will differ by state, but generally your state authority must grant removal authorization before you can have your IID removed. How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.

Can someone else drive my car?
