- KEKelsi EmighJan 10, 20251.0This is a money scheme and a joke. Their machines are junk and will leave you stranded in the cold constantly. Not for violations but bc of recalls and other issues on their end and they do not have operators you can talk to, to resolve the issue . Just have to get your vehicles towed 2x per month back to the garage so they can fix the recall issue and charge you $159 each time you need it serviced plus the tow fee. It is the biggest scam. Do NOT get Smart Start. Ask for a different vendor system to use. There is no govt oversight, so they can do and charge as they please. Again, Smart Start systems DO NOT WORK. Period.

How does an Interlock Device work?
When you blow into your Ignition Interlock Device, you're providing a breath test sample in order to start the vehicle. The device then measures your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), and will either say that you passed, need to retest, or failed. You will be asked to take rolling retests throughout your drive.
What can breathalyzers detect?
Breathalyzers only measure your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC).
Is an Ignition Interlock the same as a breathalyzer?
Ignition Interlock and handheld breathalyzers both test your Breath Alcohol Concentration (BrAC), but an Ignition Interlock Device is only installed in vehicles and prevents the car from starting if there is alcohol detected. A handheld breathalyzer only detects alcohol and may tell you the concentration.
