Vans is the original skateboard footwear brand. Rooted in youth culture with an uncompromised commitment to action sports, music and fashion, Vans has been designing footwear and apparel to inspire and empower consumers since 1966. From style icons like the Old Skool and Checkerboard Slip-On to performance-focused skate shoes and outdoor boots, Vans creates authentic products for those who never stand still.
I wanna start with saying that the 2 employees working were absolutely WONDERFUL. I truly don’t think I’ve ever recieved better customer service at a vans store before. This review is only in support of them!
On the other hand, the manager there is absolutely ATROCIOUS. From the moment I walked in she was condescending, cold and overbearing towards both the employees and I.
I was attempting to make 3 returns (I know, I did walk in telling the employees that I think this is gonna be a tough one and I preemptively sincerely apologize.)
2 of the shoes were bought in Colorado. I did not have a receipt. Which I’ve never had a problem with since it’s all in my vans account.
They were already having issues with the computers and the scanners, and could not even find my account. Meanwhile I had it pulled up on my phone. There was a lot of support coming from the employees while navigating this hiccup. Meanwhile the manager is breathing down their necks and not even letting them finish talking when she intervened to try to figure it out. They did not ask for help and were figuring it out just fine.
They could not find my account in the system. Disappointing because they have been going through big changes with upgrading their check out technology and loss of the app, but so understandable.
Because I did not have the boxes for the shoes, they also didn’t have anything to scan to match the item. Totally my fault but I had never planned on returning them and didn’t have room to pack boxes with me coming back from Colorado.
While the situation continued of trying to figure it out, the managers tone continued to get more irritated and she would not let the employees continue to help me and just stepped in and took over. She continued to explained to me that they cannot do the return without proof of purchase in my account and that she wasn’t able to find it, the employee simply stated that the customer only had access to online purchases, not in store, so I would have no other way of verifying that the purchases were made.
While talking over me while I was trying to understand better on where to go from here, she explained she could only give me store credit. In a different situation I could understand completely. But the fact I had my account pulled up on my phone but they couldn’t find it in the system is absolutely not my fault. She follows up with “I could go above and beyond and call the Colorado store to see if they can help.”
This caught me so off guard. Above and beyond? Never anything I asked for, just more of an explanation on what I can do since they can’t even find my account on their end.
I was so taken back how badly this interaction turned sideways so quickly, and it only did as soon as the manager stepped in. I understand having policies and procedures out of your control, but none of the interactions were justified by this policy. I simply was unaware of how to further go about things.
I have spent thousands and thousands on dollars with vans since I was a pre teen. Never had a single issue. Ever.
Especially at this location.
I promptly put back the purchases I had planned to make but I refused to give her store the sales and will happily drive to a different location triple the distance from me.
If I was mean, unruly, complaining or demanding things, this reaction from her could be justified.
I was none of those things. I was apologetic and made sure they knew how much I appreciated their help with the mess I was in. These retail workers deal with enough.
Having her be the face of a long standing and reputable brand is embarrassing. I’m embarrassed for those employees, I’m embarrassed for vans, and I am embarrassed for her.
She is a prime example on how you lose great employees.

Great customer service. Associates were so helpful and friendly. Helped both my kids find the right shoe by helping with sizing, comfort, and even lacing the shoes. Sounds silly but a nice pair of vans with a fresh lace just seals the deal. Seems like every staff member was ready to jump in and get us taken care of. Not one person seemed too busy to help. Thanks!

Helpful, chill, nice employees. Whoever runs this location knows what they’re doing. Allowed me to return some unworn shoes a little past the window, which I greatly appreciated. Will be sure to return to this location.
