I had a very uncomfortable experience at Platos Closet in Oklahoma City on Sunday August 9th around 12:15 PM.
When I walked in, I was not greeted. The older Caucasian woman working at the counter facing the door looked directly at me but said nothing. Shortly afterward, a Hispanic man walked in and she immediately greeted him. That interaction made me uncomfortable, especially because I had just walked in and had not received the same basic courtesy.
I tried to give the store the benefit of the doubt and browsed for a moment. I even stopped near the counter where the employee was working, hoping she might acknowledge me or offer a greeting. Instead, I received no acknowledgment. I watched her thank another family for shopping as they left, while I walked out in complete silence without so much as a goodbye.
Maybe there was another explanation, but the difference in how I was treated left me feeling unwelcome and uncomfortable. As a Black woman, I should be able to walk into a store and receive the same basic respect and customer service as everyone else.
I left without making a purchase because the atmosphere did not feel welcoming. I hope management takes experiences like this seriously and makes sure every customer is treated with the same courtesy and respect.

I went to sell some clothes that were barely used—practically new—but they paid me next to nothing. They told me to leave my bags there so they could sort through what worked for them and what didn't; when I checked, I saw they had taken out two garments and a bag—they must have thought I wouldn't notice.

Rip off and i strongly feel that Platos closet needs to update their "rules". Yall give people little to no money for the clothes they bring in and yall choose to accept. When y'all do accept clothes, yall accept literally nothing, or the most basic things. The not accepting formal wear is so crazy to me. Some people dont have the money to buy something NEW, and try to come into these stores to find something in their budget. After yall accepted 2 tops of mine for $3, i roamed yalls aisles and saw some raggedy t-shirts AND FORMAL dresses that are NOT appealing.
