  Alexa is fabulous Stylist. I went in looking for the denim barn jacket and she was more than knowledgeable. She was so warm and welcoming from the moment I walked in. When I asked to try on 2 different sizes, she took my items and carried them for me!! Once I tried on the items, I walked outside to look in the mirrors and Alexa gave me the best fashion advice. I left the store feeling confident with a great new piece for my closet. Alexa is great!!

  Hi all! I just visited this Maurices store today with my mom and love this chain store. I ended up buying a pair of jeans which was nice. While it was great to visit the store with family, unfortunately my mom and I found the workers a little overbearing. One employee approached asking if we could use help and we let them know we were good and were just going to look around for now. Not biggy as this is the norm in most stores we go to. She let us go and we thought that would send the message that we wanted time to shop on our own. Unfortunately this message was not received. We were approached by another employee multiple times while we were trying to shop. She attempting to offer us help we did not ask for and alternative sizes and commenting on almost everything we picked up excessively. They even followed us to the dressing room and talked at me through the door while I was trying things on. I tried to indicate with my short tone that we were fine, but these hints did not land. They even hovered near my mom as she was waiting outside of the waiting room and talked to hear even though she had her phone up, another sign that she was not in the mood to talk. This was also usually a time and space where we liked to talk about the things I was trying on without any interference. There was a buy one get one 60% deal I really wanted to take advantage of, but the hovering and constant attention became so annoying that I wanted to leave early with just the jeans. I am writing this with the hope that management and the staff will realize that this “proactive” approach is actually very wearing on potential customers and is creating negative outcomes. I think the currently employee are great but that the training or instruction of how to interact with costumers needs to change or be updated. For me and my mom, we love to have the space to enjoy our own shopping. We do not mind an initial offer of help so we know we have people to turn to if needed, but we would not like someone with us step by step during our shopping. For us, a hands off approach from the staff wouldn’t been far more effective. I love Maurice’s and hope to shop there in the future, but hope the store will take this as constructive criticism to hopefully update their costumer approaches to help improve the experience of their shoppers.
