  So on 7-27-26 I take my 86-year-old mother to JCPenney and Lima Ohio to purchase some clothes. I remember shopping there when we were kids in school, getting our new school clothes. I must say the store is not quite what it was and those days the early 70's No one to meet you at the door when you come in immediately asking if you needed help. Shopping carts only at the main entrance not at the side entrance from the front parking lot. At any rate my mother began shopping, then we needed help for my mother , by this point we had still seen no JCPenney employees in the store and we had already been in there for a good 30 minutes. We were actually trying to discover where the women's petite department was. Finally as a joke I told my mother I'll get us some help, I just started shouting help help help like I had fallen down. About that time a young lady came to our aid pushing a cart full of clothes she was an employee. She asked what she could do for us and we told her she pointed Us in the right direction and in fact went and found my mother a shopping cart from the other end of the store. My mother started shopping in the petite department for women and the young lady showed up again in that area asking if we needed further help. I asked where are the dressing rooms so my mother can try these clothes on, are there any back here in the back of the store, no she said unfortunately those are all up to the front and on the left side. My mother decided to go to the dressing room and try on the clothes that she had found. She had quite a few that she had picked out so it took her a while to try those on. She managed to keep some the fit, as she came out of the dressing room with the ones that fit and the ones that did not fit, the young lady who was the employee for JCPenney showed up again, her first question was is there anything else I can do for you? My mother said these don't fit what should I do with them, the young lady told her to just place them in the basket that she would take care of it. Then she asked my mother would you like me to go back and get you a different size in the same type of jeans. My mother answered there was no smaller ones at least on the shelf. The young lady explained to my mother that she could order the correct size of the cash register when we checked out. So that's what my mother decided she would do she would just order the other size at the time we checked out. I asked a young lady what her name was, she replied Layna Layna was very professional, very polite and went out of her way to help us. Layna was the only store employee we seen moving about the store the entire time we were shopping. She was taking care of putting away clothes that had been returned straightening up the racks and gathering clothes up from the dressing room area. Layna was the only one that came to our aid when we needed help. The funny part is when we got to the checkout counter, there were four girls at the checkout counter, with only two cash registers, they seemed to be enjoying themselves when we stepped up to check out. We checked out I paid using my JCPenney card, I also placed the order for the pants but my mother wanted in the size that she needed. I did ask if any of them were the manager, two of them replied no we're not. I simply wanted to put a good word in for Layna who had one out of her way to help us. None of the girls at the checkout counter offered to get the manager for me. I think that simple response indicates who is providing good customer service for JCPenney in Lima Ohio at about 4:20 p.m. on 7-27-26 In my opinion it was your ⭐ employee Layna I think Layna deserves recognition for going above and beyond for JCPenney

  Nicole in the hair salon is an absolute wizard with the clippers. Great customer service and I highly recommend anyone who has had bad previous haircut experience to go to her.

  Absolutely ridiculous they close their gates due to stealing on one side of the mall blocking access to another business aka hot topic on the other side. Not only is this a safety issue but extremely ridiculous all because of theft issues in YOUR store. Never have I ever walked through the JCPenney and seen a single employee until you reach half way through the store nor am I EVER greeted. that shows you have no employees watching your product DO BETTER

  Went to Lima because I had talked to someone at Ohio State Beauty Academy who said they could do a simple box pattern and rubber band each section. They told me when I got there that isn't a service they provide so they weren't doing it. No other hair salon would do it and I was already out there from making a hour long drive because I was told OSBA would do it then they backed out. JCPenney was my light at the end of the tunnel. Hairs separated into a grid. Rubber bands are in. Bout to braid my hair. Very happy. They turned my day around. 😁

  Danielle in jewelry, you don't know everything. You're jewelry not all that. People need to start going to Duncan's jewelry across the street. Much better jewelry. And better staffing.
