  Extremely disappointing experience — disrespectful and unacceptable treatment I’ve purchased firearms from multiple places throughout New Mexico, and my experience at Dunham’s Sports in Santa Fe was by far one of the worst customer service experiences I’ve had. I entered the store simply to look at the firearms. An employee gave me attitude and told me he could not sell me a firearm because of the way I looked. I calmly explained that I was just a military guy only browsing for a new firearm . Instead of treating me with basic respect or offering assistance, he went to the back, returned, and told me to leave. I respectfully asked if someone else could assist me, but he doubled down and said he would not sell to me because I looked like a criminal. That accusation was completely uncalled for and deeply disrespectful. I remained calm throughout the interaction and told him that, after being treated that way, I had no intention of purchasing anything from him. Based on the interaction, I was left seriously concerned that racial bias may have played a role in how I was treated. No customer should be judged by their appearance or made to feel unwelcome based on assumptions about who they are. I cannot speak to the employee’s intentions, but the comments and treatment I experienced were unacceptable. Unfortunately, the problem did not seem limited to one interaction. The overall attitude and lack of professionalism I encountered made the entire experience unpleasant. I strongly recommend that management address its customer service standards and investigate how customers are being treated. Being military does not make me more deserving of respect than anyone else, but it certainly does not justify being treated like a criminal simply for walking into a store to browse. I will be taking my business elsewhere. There are plenty of other sporting goods stores that know how to treat customers with courtesy and professionalism. Based on my experience, I cannot recommend this location.

  Don’t ever think you’ll just “ run in” for this store. They are always woefully understaffed and you’ll wait. God help ya if you need a cabinet unlocked. Best bring a snack

  Dunhams sport shop is unconstitutional. They are too much of a corporation and they not there for the people. They are only there for the money. Their customer service are like robots. They are only there for themselves. This is the worst sporting shop I have ever been to and I will never go to another one ever again. Dunham's sport shop is the worst of the worst

  Not one to focus on the negative aspect of these encounters. But I can't stand to be treated Rudely! I called today to the gun counter to check on the status of a gun I'm in the process of purchasing after waiting for 15 minutes on hold, I greet the employee formally. "Hello, how are you doing today?" and all he has to say to me is "what can I do for you?". Didn't ask how I was or even say hello back. After speaking with the manager John (who was polite and respectfu) he called me back in matter of minutes about my inquiry, I feel a little better. But, The employee I believe his name is Derek at the gun counter needs to be held accountable for how he treats customers and lack of customer service. After reading the reviews it seems to be the problematic area of this store. I'll leave this at a one star til my next encounter... Update** I picked up my firearm and was helped by Joey and Rick and they both knocked it out of the park!! Great customer service!! And both went above and beyond. I came in as the gun counter was closing and they stayed late just so I could pick my firearm and they threw in some great convo as well. I didn't want to hold them up any longer than I had to, so I put off buying ammo til the following day. I noticed the sale price was off for my purchase so I spoke with John again and he squared everything up immediately no questions asked . So this is getting updated to to 5 stars. One bad employee can ruin a whole stores reputation..
