  Terrible service. An entire floor had no working checkout, and after asking several employees for help, we waited over 30 minutes only to find the register was broken. Many customers were stuck waiting with no assistance. Manager Kate suggested I leave a review in hopes the company will hire more staff. For a store this size, not having enough employees to help customers check out is unacceptable. To make matters worse, they had no shopping bags and gave me a clear garbage bag for the gifts I purchased

  I was so excited about going to my first clearance event at jcpenny but didnt know I would have a horrible experience. First let me say that myself and a family member are disabled and dont leave the house much but today was a doctor visit day and we prepared to do some damage shopping at this location. We first entered this location and was looking for carts to help us walk around because we use canes for assistance. There were none by this entrance but a young lady pointed us to where they were located. Unfortunately we both could not walk the distance but the associate was nice to bring us two. We decided to go to home area but was greeted by a escalator that was blocked and not working. So we asked two ladies by jewelry where the elevator was and were told it was out of order!!!!! How is that possible!!! I asked if there was a freight elevator for us to use and they said no we would have to walk outside into the mall and use the escalator. I was in complete shock and asked for a manager. It just so happened that one was passing and explained the same thing to use and also told me we couldn't take the carts out. At this point I wanted to walk out. I asked for the store info and number to a district or regional manager and was told she didnt have it but I could call customer service. She apologized but kept saying it was nothing she could do. We shopped downstairs and made a purchase and looked outside to the mall to see the escalator. I didnt care and walked out with the cart. We made it upstairs and I just wanted to shop. We began shopping and filling our carts . We looked around for a register and there was only one with a line. Long story short I had to sit and my family member stayed in line for 20min-30mim while this woman that rang us up downstairs had made herself upstairs to be the only cashier. She was polite and was overworked. One of our items rang up way over sticker price and she had to override but a manager had to do it. She called a manager but we decided to finish that purchase and let the long line go. We had to keep sitting down because nobody was coming. She called 3 times and finally someone came. She looked at the pot and walked away to go check the section to find another one came back and said no, I cant offer that price. We were confused because she didnt find another and than told us online had it for higher. We basically were confused because she ripped of the clearance sticker and said your not getting it for that price. We stood there telling her she needed to honor it and she kept saying there is nothing I can do! I wanted a manager and she said she was. I grabbed my phone to take a picture of the pot and she had an attitude and said I couldn't record her. She wouldnt put the sticker back on for me to take the pic but walked away and we asked her for her name and was ignored. As someone who has worked in retail for 20 + years i have never seen a store so horribly ran, that is not ADA compliant, have manager staff that are rude and dont want to satisfy a customer needs. The whole time I was upstairs there were multiple handicap ppl that could not believe they could not go up or down in this location but while we were upstairs waiting in line some how the up escalator started working causing more handicap ppl got stuck or not have energy to make a walk to get back downstairs. There were also ppl with strollers. I will NEVER shop at this location and will be reporting to ADA. Be prepared if your shopping or return to have one register working on each floor.
