I wish I had never gone to Nordstrom on Mother’s Day. If I had known I would be treated so rudely by Nia, I would have stayed home.
A few days ago, I purchased several pairs of shoes online. Later, I realized there had been a price reduction. I contacted customer service, and they were able to adjust the price for one item because it was still in stock online. However, for another item, my size was no longer available online. The representative on the phone advised me to visit the store and assured me they would be able to honor the price adjustment there.
When I arrived at Nordstrom, the cashier assisting me was unsure how to process the adjustment and asked another cashier, Nia, for help. Nia immediately responded with an attitude, saying, “We do not do price adjustments in the store.” I explained that customer service specifically told me to come in, and she replied with attitude again, saying, “Online has different policies than in store.”
What made the situation even more frustrating was that Nia was not even my cashier. She inserted herself into the situation only to be rude and dismissive. I calmly asked if there was a supervisor or someone else I could speak with, but instead of helping, she repeatedly asked, “Do you want me to show you the policy on our website?” I told her no and simply asked again if I could speak with a supervisor.
At one point, I asked for her name, and with more attitude she responded, “Do you want me to spell the name for you?” and started spelling it. I politely replied, “No thank you.”
Shockingly, she refused multiple times to call a supervisor for me. I honestly do not believe I gave her any attitude. I was simply trying to understand why customer service instructed me to come into the store if nothing could be done. The only reason the phone representative could not complete the adjustment was because my size was no longer available online, but she assured me the store could help.
I eventually continued my transaction with the cashier assisting me, Jordan. Even after I walked away from the counter, Nia continued eyeing me with attitude, which made the situation even more uncomfortable.
Afterward, I asked another employee if a supervisor was available because Nia had refused to contact one despite me asking several times. I have never experienced anything like that before.
This was not the way I expected to spend part of my Mother’s Day — dealing with such poor customer service. I eventually spoke with a supervisor and explained the situation.
I have never written a review before, but this experience left me extremely disappointed. Even my 7-year-old son asked me, “Why was that lady so angry or mad at you?” Sadly, I had no answer for him.
Update- May 12
The supervisor I spoke with on May 10 during my visit to the store gathered my name and telephone number, and today, May 12, I received a call from the customer service supervisor, Marquita. I truly appreciated her taking the time to contact me so she could gain a better understanding of what occurred. Not only did she listen carefully to my concerns, but she was also able to assist me with the price adjustment that another representative had previously advised could not be done.
I have shopped at Nordstrom many times and have never experienced anything like this before. However, I am grateful that the matter was ultimately resolved and corrected.
Thank you
I stopped by Nordstrom Rack last week while I was looking for a dress and shoes for a wedding I was attending in California.
They had a nice selection overall. I wasn’t able to find a dress, mainly because the wedding required specific colors and I couldn’t find one in the color I needed. That part was a little disappointing, but they did have a good variety of dresses in general.
Where they really stood out was the shoes. They had a strong selection of dressy shoes, along with a lot of other items. This is one of those stores where you can usually find cute summer sandals, pocketbooks, undergarments, and random good finds if you take your time.
Even though I didn’t find what I was specifically looking for on that visit, I do like this Nordstrom Rack and would come back. It can be a hit or miss, but more often than not, you’ll walk out with something.
