  4R Home Thrift Store in Minot is what happens when a time machine breaks, spills its contents into a building, and then someone puts price tags on the debris and says, “Have at it.” This place is dangerous—not in a “call for help” way, but in a “you came in for five minutes and now it’s been an hour and you’re emotionally attached to a lamp shaped like a swan” kind of way. You don’t shop here. You *wander*. You drift. You lose track of time and possibly your original purpose in life. You walk in and immediately get hit with everything—retro furniture, clocks that may or may not be accurate but definitely have opinions, shoes from eras that had stronger opinions, dressers that have seen things. It’s not a store. It’s a museum where you’re allowed to take the exhibits home if you can justify it to yourself in the parking lot. And the inventory rotates like it’s part of some mysterious cycle. You come back weekly and suddenly there’s entirely new chaos. Things you’ve never seen, things you don’t understand, things that make you go, “Who owned this? Why did they own this? And why do I suddenly feel like I need it?” It’s less shopping and more anthropological research with a checkout counter. From the outside? Yeah, it’s a little rough. It’s got that “this building has stories and none of them are short” look. But inside—that’s where the magic happens. That’s where the hunt begins. You go in with zero expectations and walk out with a grandfather clock like you’ve just inherited a Victorian estate. Or a table. Or a stack of books you swear you’re going to read. Or, if you’re feeling particularly ambitious, an ancient piece of tech that you convince yourself you can bring back to life. And sometimes—you actually do. Because this is the kind of place where finding an old TRS-80 isn’t weird. It’s Tuesday. And suddenly you’re at home, tearing it apart, modernizing it, building a UI for it like some kind of retro-tech archaeologist who got a little too excited and now has a project. Best part? No judgment. None. Everyone in there is on the same wavelength. You’re all just quietly digging through pieces of other people’s lives, looking for something that clicks. Nobody’s asking questions. Nobody’s raising eyebrows. It’s a shared understanding of, “Yeah… I don’t need this. But I’m getting it anyway.” 4R isn’t polished. It’s not curated. It’s not trying to be anything other than what it is. A beautifully chaotic collection of “what was” waiting to become “what’s next.” And if you spend enough time in there… you’ll probably find something you weren’t looking for. Including a new project you didn’t plan on starting.

  I love this store!! It is my very favorite thrift store in Minot! They have such a wide variety of everything, lots of super cool vintage stuff & new items everyday. Their prices are great, the staff are such great people, they're always helpful & friendly. Check them out.. you will thank me later! Keep up the good work 4R Home thrift!
