  I have been a regular customer and seller at Plato’s Closet for several years and have generally had positive experiences, particularly at the Cary and Southpoint locations. Unfortunately, my recent visit to the Plato’s Closet Brier Creek location on July 15 was disappointing. Before arriving, I called the store around 8:58 p.m. to let the staff know I was on my way because I have previously experienced issues receiving text and email notifications regarding my buys. An associate answered the phone, but the call was disconnected after I identified myself. Believing the call may have dropped, I immediately called back, but no one answered. When I arrived a few moments later, I asked about the disconnected call and was told there had been an issue with the phone system. However, because the call had initially been answered and my return call went unanswered, I was left confused by the explanation. As I entered, I also noticed what appeared to be an associate look up and smirk. Given the circumstances, I found the interaction concerning and expressed that I was disappointed by what I perceived to be unprofessional behavior. There were three associates present, and the employee who appeared to be leading the interaction responded that the associate was simply “happy.” While that may have been the explanation, the response felt dismissive of my concerns rather than acknowledging them. Customer service extends beyond completing a transaction. It includes treating customers with professionalism, courtesy, and respect when they raise a concern. Unfortunately, that was not my experience during this visit. I hope management views this feedback as an opportunity to reinforce those expectations with the team. I have enjoyed shopping and selling with Plato’s Closet over the years and sincerely hope the Brier Creek location can provide the same level of customer service I’ve experienced at your other stores. At this time, however, this experience has made me hesitant to return or recommend this location to friends and family.
