My sister and I went to Plato’s Closet looking for jeans, and honestly the experience was disappointing from the start. A lot of the clothing felt overpriced for how used and worn some of it was. If you’re going to charge those prices for secondhand clothes, the quality should at least match. But what REALLY bothered me was the security camera positioned directly across from the dressing rooms. Yes, I understand it may not be intentionally pointed inside the stalls, but cameras have a WIDE field of view. I could literally see the camera from inside the stall while standing in the corner and even while squatting down. That is absolutely uncomfortable and, frankly, ridiculous. How is any customer supposed to know what that camera can actually see? Children and teenagers shop and change clothes here too. There shouldn’t even be a POSSIBILITY of a security camera having a view into a changing area. Move the damn camera, change the angle, or spend the money to put up taller stalls. Customers should not have to question their privacy while taking their clothes off. If theft is the concern, you already count how many items customers take into the dressing room. Count them again when they come out. There are better solutions than having a camera positioned where customers can clearly see it from inside a changing stall. The register experience wasn’t much better. The new employee didn’t even know how to get our total to show on the screen. That is NOT her fault. What bothered me was that other employees were standing off to the side instead of properly helping and training her. If you’re going to put a new hire on the register, TRAIN THEM and actually support them while they’re learning. Between overpriced, heavily used merchandise, poor employee training, and a camera placement that made us extremely uncomfortable while changing, management seriously needs to do better. Fix the dressing room situation ASAP.

If I could give it a zero, I most certainly would here is why… This was my second time bringing items to Plato’s Closet, and unfortunately, it will probably be my last. My concern isn’t that my items weren’t accepted. I understand that resale stores have buying guidelines, and not every item will receive an offer. My concern is the automated text message I received, which stated: “Plato’s is closing soon at 9 and you have not returned. Please return today or your cash offer will be void, other items donated, and your account will be flagged.” When I read that message, I believed there was a cash offer waiting for my items. I returned to the store expecting to receive payment, only to find out there was no offer at all. I called the store between approximately 8:50 p.m. and 9:00 p.m. to ask about the message, and the gentleman I spoke with explained that this is a general text sent to everyone. If that’s the case, I believe the wording needs to be changed. Referring to “your cash offer” when there may not be one is confusing and misleading. A message asking customers to pick up their items before closing would be much clearer and would avoid giving customers false expectations. Clear communication matters. I hope Plato’s Closet updates this automated text so future customers are not left with the same misunderstanding I experienced.

I would not recommend selling to plato’s closet. I drove an hour away with high-quality namebrand, clothes, shoes and pocketbooks they did not accept any items. Only 1 dress that was on the top of the bag. They told me it would take 45 minutes to look through my things and it only took them five minutes and I had three big bags. When I got the stuff back, it was the same way that I sent it in and it looked like they didn’t even look at it. I then went to uptown cheapskate they took 1 hour to look through my items and they took everything. I also felt like it was a racial issue today because I so happen just sit and wait looking up other places I can take the items and other people went in the same time as me and they accepted all of their items.

Update: Thank you for your response. I would just like to clarify one point for anyone reading this review. When we first came to the store, the owner agreed to make an exception to the 7-day return policy. After I explained that we had discovered a tear on the item after getting home and showed you the issue, the return was no longer accepted. My daughter only noticed that the item had a tear after she got home. The item had not been worn, the tag was still attached, and I showed you the tear myself because I wanted to be transparent about the reason for the return and to prevent another customer from having the same disappointing experience. If we had caused the damage ourselves, we would not have brought the item back and voluntarily pointed out the issue ourselves. My review was never about the return policy. It was about how the situation was handled. We came to the store hoping to resolve an issue, but we left feeling disappointed by how we were treated as customers. Unfortunately, I was very disappointed with my experience. We brought back an item with the tag still attached and explained the issue. The most disappointing part was not the store policy, but how the situation was handled. We did not feel respected or valued as customers.

!!READ THE BAD REVIEWS BEFOREHAND!! I'm not even sure where to start I could write a book with how irritated and frustrated my last two experiences this particular store has left me. They deserve no stars. Also convinced the good reviews on here are written by the employees lmao. My first experience months back I brought one half full back of clothes, all new/slightly used items. All brands that they literally have listed on their website. The first girl who approaches me was extremely rude & clearly miserable with herself. I came in with a friend but only I was selling. She takes one look at my ID, looks us both up & down, & then proceeds to ask "so you're selling but your friend is carrying the bag?" with the dumbest look on her face. That alone made me wanna take my things & leave before I lost my temper. Fast forward the check in website was "glitching" she said as an excuse to why they couldn't get me in the system. 3 HOURS later I come back to a whole new shift of employees (also rude) telling me they took nothing. BAFFLED, I asked if they were sure & told them about the issue with the previous employee. They responded "that ain't got nothing to do with us, & walked off." So today I decided to give it another try months later. While the first girl was polite, she told me it would be 45 mins. Went to eat and came back in less than 45 mins. I could tell by looking at my bag from the outside that nothing had been taken or even touched. Different employee brings my clothes to the counter & attempts to tell me their favorite line about how "things weren't in style, not good condition" in the most monotone idgaf voice, while staring at the computer as if I'm not standing in front of her. Before she could even finish I decided to match their attitudes/rudeness & interrupted her mid sentence with one word "predictable". Snatched my bag off the counter & left. 100% be & my last visit. I mean im talking the literal rudest, entitled, judgemental staff I've ever seen. They treat you like youre burdening with your business as if this isn't their JOB. How hard is it to looks through clothes? I understand stress but nope they have no excuse. Long story I know but PLEASE do not waste your time. They clearly pick & choose who they buy from out of personal opinion. Clearly the owner has nothing to change this obvious reoccurring issue considering all the accurate bad reviews. Amazing how they're still in business. Okay I'm done. (:
