He had a red harness appeared to may have been a service dog, but obviously not with the way he behaved towards the public. The owner openly said “he doesn’t like children” as my 4 yr old and I walked past to get in line to check out. We don’t care, my child is taught not to approach dogs. We walked by and ignored the dog. We had to stand in line behind the family member associated with the man standing 5 ft from the check out line with a dog. The dog proceeded to growl at my son standing next to me, doing nothing to provoke it. Two people in line ahead of me and check out took 20 mins to complete, so my 4 yr old was doing his best to stand patiently. He sat on the ground in front of me at my feet, which stressed out the dog to growl at my son more. NO ONE said anything. We were in line, waiting… The woman related to the man with the dog asked the man to take the dog outside after 15 mins of this, then the woman stared at us like we were the problem. The man was visibly annoyed. Finally get to check out with two items and the reason I waited in line.. $10 off of $20 purchase, stackable with coupons. I was told it didn’t work. For 10 mins and 2x back and forth with another sales associate, my purchase was completed. It came down to the woman at the register not knowing the way to complete the purchase with the $10 off. Looking back on it, I should have said something to the people with the dog, but we did nothing to provoke this. A dog should not be allowed in a store if it is reactive; service dog or not. Check out process should not take a total of 30 mins to complete 3 people. All I wanted to do was use my coupon on a couple shirts today. It should not have been so complicated and unsafe.
