- JBjessica boymeJul 7, 20261.0I had a very disappointing experience shopping at Belk. I selected approximately 20 items to try on for an upcoming vacation and headed to the fitting room. Before I even reached the entrance, the fitting room attendant commented on my “big load” of clothing. When I arrived, she blocked the entrance with a rack and informed me that I could only take four items into the fitting room at a time. I’ve shopped at Belk for years and had never encountered this policy, so I politely asked where it was posted or if she could show me the written policy. She couldn’t point to any sign or written policy and simply repeated that it was “her policy.” If this is truly a store policy, it should be clearly posted and explained professionally. Instead, the interaction felt arbitrary and unwelcoming. Rather than making the shopping experience easier, it became frustrating. As a result, I tried on only a few items, left the rest behind, and walked out without making the purchase I had intended. Belk lost a significant sale because of an unnecessary and poorly handled customer interaction. I hope management reviews how fitting room policies are communicated and reminds employees that customer service matters just as much as store procedures.
