  After leaving Dillard’s Clearance, a quick Google Maps search pointed us toward Belk. Eight minutes later, we walked through the doors and immediately discovered something wonderful: Their air conditioning worked. 😂 After our previous shopping adventure, that alone felt worthy of a star. I grabbed a push cart, half for potential loot and half because at a certain point in a shopping day, a buggy becomes less transportation and more mobility assistance. The store was clean, organized, and, praise be, the racks were spaced far enough apart that both me and my buggy could navigate without taking out a display. Ray was released into the men’s department and promptly ran wild. Meanwhile, I discovered what may be Belk’s greatest contribution to marital harmony: comfortable chairs outside the fitting rooms. Yes. Chairs. While husbands confront fluorescent lighting and the mysterious mathematics of pants sizes, wives can sit peacefully and reconsider the life choices that brought them there. This is civilization. After several contenders, only one pair survived the fitting room Olympics, but they were winners. White Perry Ellis linen pants, 50% off, plus another $10 coupon simply for handing over the same phone number that half the businesses in America, several telemarketers, and probably a few exes already have. Fair trade. The employees we encountered were pleasant, the store was comfortable, and the selection was good without feeling like we needed excavation equipment to shop it. And because saving money naturally makes you feel entitled to immediately spend some of it on calories, we walked across to Jersey Mike’s for our celebratory high calorie meal. You don't have to buy a buggy full to have a successful trip. Sometimes all you need is one good pair of pants, a coupon, functioning air conditioning, and somewhere to sit while your husband changes clothes. Belk understood the assignment. And the thermostat. 😂

  The lady Stacey was wonderful. She helped me find everything I needed and informed me about the Belks's app so I was able to save money too

  Wow, what a turn around!! I had vowed never to come back here again several years ago because the store was such a mess, but today I needed to look for a pair of sandals and was so pleasantly surprised by the condition of the store that I will definitely be coming back. To the management and to all who were working so hard, good job!!
