  Very disappointed with my experience at the Hickory location. I had an appointment scheduled for 8/13/26 at 5:30 PM. I drove about 30 minutes to get there and arrived right on time, only to find the doors locked and the lights off. I contacted customer service and was told that the Hickory location had notified them that they would be closed, but apparently that notification was only sent internally and customers were not notified. In fact I had received a reminder for my appointment on August 13th and nowhere in that reminder did it say the location would be closed. I explained to customer service that I needed another 5:30 PM appointment because I had recently started a new job and cannot leave work early. The only appointment they offered me was at 3:45 PM. I asked if they could make an exception since the closure was not my fault, and we even looked at different dates for a 5:30 PM appointment. I was told there was nothing they could do because the device would eventually lock me out after a certain date. I've never missed an appointment and have followed every step exactly as required. I was also only switched to Monitech because Alcolock stopped providing interlock devices. I work in customer service myself and when a mistake happens on our end we do everything we can to make it right for the customer. Unfortunately I did not feel that same level of customer care from Monitech. I drove 30 minutes to an appointment that I was never told had been canceled and I was left to deal with the consequences of their scheduling and communication failure. This experience has been extremely frustrating, especially because of the potential consequences an interlock appointment can have with the DMV. Based on this experience, I would not recommend Monitech. If you're considering using them, I would strongly encourage you to look at other options first.

  I haven’t had a problem with the customer service. The guy that works most of the time is pretty entertaining. What I am not happy with is the inaccuracy of the device itself. I had a fail within the first week after installation and I hadn’t eaten or drank anything but water that morning. After it had me turn offf the engine and re blow, I passed and still had to pay a $45 fee because of a faulty device. I am so paranoid about it now I have water bottles scattered all over my car so it doesn’t happen again.
